Hey all! This morning, we deployed an update for iOS and Android. See below for a summary of what's changed. If you'd like a look at what has changed over the last few months, check out our App Release Notes here, as well as our System (Player) Release Notes here.

 

As with most updates, this will be a Phased Rollout, which means that you may (or may not) get the update or features pushed to your system. Some iOS users have sidestepped this in the past, by going directly to the App Store. If you still do not see the update, try refreshing the App Store by pulling down (as if you were refreshing a page) on the Account page that shows all your pending app updates.

 

What’s New
 

Android & iOS - 83.00.36

  • Quickly access EQ controls when changing volume with the new EQ Shortcut. Enable this in App Preferences.

  • Content services can now provide additional options in the “More” menu across the Sonos app.

    • Browse by artist or album

    • Start Radio for a similar artist or album

    • Create or edit a playlist within the content service

Note: These options will differ based on the music service being used.

 

iOS only- 83.00.36

  • Adjust the volume from anywhere on the slider for easier control, especially at lower volume levels.

    You may want to read through the optimizely.com privacy statement.

    Sonos customers should refer to https://www.sonos.com/en/legal/privacy, as this the agreement Sonos customers agree to when installing the App.

    The Optimizely privacy statement will be between Sonos & Optimizely.

      I like the haptic feedback (is that the term?) for the volume slider on android, compared to before, a much better finer control

      The layout is nice, plus the EQ shortcut is great. 

      Well I like it. Nice work Sonos.

        Does the Content Services Playlist part mean you can edit and create Spotify Playlists for example (as opposed to just being able to add songs to one)?

        Does saving a Sonos Playlist still allow creation of one with the same name as an existing one, as opposed to warning it exists and asking if you wish to overwrite?

        I like the shortcut to the Eq.  It would be even better if Sub level was there too.

          Continuing improvement to functionality on andrid phone.

          However, despite local library now really as responsive as it has ever been there are still tje issues of album thumbnails not showing in queue and no hd/res banners. Given we've got icons for speakers etc now, surely they can be re-instated?

          Will this update be available for the iPad? My iPad 13 has Build 82.0.0.39 and will not update past that version. My iPhone 16 has updated to Build 83.00.36.

          FIXED --- Just ran the App Store Update again and now I have Build 83.00.36 on the iPad.

            This is a rolling update, that means you get the app sometime, should be less than two weeks from the release announcement.

            It also contains phased features that are enabled on a different schedule, once you have the updated app.

              Will this update be available for the iPad? My iPad 13 has Build 82.0.0.39 and will not update past that version. My iPhone 16 has updated to Build 83.00.36.

              FIXED --- Just ran the App Store Update again and now I have Build 83.00.36 on the iPad.

              I was asking myself the same… iPad yes or no!?

              I checked all out iPads and one of them was showing the option (but there I wasn’t logged into my Sonos account). After logging in (what is necessary to activate the option) it was gone. 
              Strange…
              Hm… so I suppose it will also be available on iPads.

              Generally all good, like the volume control and EQ changes, like the little speaker icons, BUT don’t like the fact that the shuffle songs feature on local music libraries has disappeared AGAIN.   After the pain we all went thru a couple of years back on this, it’s a shame this update has reintroduced the same issue.  Presumable a fix is on the way ?

              Sonos rarely announces upcoming changes, might be in the release notes when it happens or lumped under "other fixes."
