I have just had the new one delivered and it does not connect - not by WiFi or by hard direct HDMI - v v disappointing to have bought a pair and no success - we have 4 other old Sonos speakers and they work fine but not these new ones
Perhaps you could walk through the steps you've taken in a little more detail?
I would have thought so - but it can happen - I have many Sonos devices in a number of my properties and never had a problem - but these ones are not working - massively disappointing
Did you update your Sonos app to the latest version? You need the latest one with these speakers. Version 8.1.

If thats not it I would reboot your wifi and see what happens.

I had to temporarily disable 5ghz WiFi on my router to get my One to connect via WiFi. To reset the One to factory default, hold down the back button while unplugged, while still holding the button in plug it in and continue to hold till it flashes orange. maybe you just need to reset them?
Until Sonos corrects the song limit (roughly 65,000) I will no longer be purchasing any more Sonos products. They need to accommodate the many people with larger song libraries. I have been using Plex, but it is not the optimal solution.

I'd be interested to know if there really are many people with libraries exceeding 65,000 tracks. I suspect it's a tiny minority of their user base.
That doesn't mean that Sonos shouldn't work to remove the limitation, however. There are ways of doing so, all of which present complications -- one of which involves breaking compatibility with older (more memory starved) Sonos devices. But, for the first time, Sonos is starting to do this, because Airplay 2 endpoint functionality is likely only to be available on certain (to be determined) newer devices, although the audio will still be distributable to all devices. They could play the same kind of game for larger libraries, with suitable software architecture changes.
Will I be able to buy this at an Apple Store in Canada when it launches? We currently don’t have Amazon Echo in Canada and this will be the first Alexa enabled device. I kinda want to compare Alexa with Siri using a demo.
You'll be able to buy the Sonos One world wide, but Alexa will only work with it in countries where voice is available.
Sonos One is voice-ready in the US, UK, and Germany. It’s everything you’d expect from a Sonos speaker to start with, and future-ready for when Sonos and a voice service launch together in your region if you’re located somewhere else.
Question Ryan
I live in Canada and own two echo dot and now Sonos One and I can voice control using my echo Dot also play Pandor simply by changing the zip code
Thx
Michel
I just recevied my Sonos One yesterday and so far I am pleased. A few questions though:
1. Are there plans to be able to change the wake word for each Sonos One respectively? I don't see the need to but just out of curiosity.
2. How soon will you be able to launch Spotify via voice control from the Sonos One?
3. Are there plans to be able to turn off the microphone LED on the top? In the bedroom this is very bright at night.
Hi Joe, glad you're liking it.
1. Definitely an idea on the list, but not something we have a timeline or specific plans for right now. We'll let everyone know if or when there's more on this one.
2. It's coming soon, our current plan is by Christmas.
3. Absolutely, 100%, not planned. This is a privacy and security feature and there is no plan, and I can't imagine there ever being one, to turn it off. The LED is soldered to the microphone in such a way that if the microphone has power, the LED is on. It's not possible to turn the light off as long as the microphone has power. We did this so you know when you microphone is on and when it isn't.
Thanks Ryan. Outside of that support it's been a good experience. My first Sonos devices. I bought 3 of the One's. The microphones seem to be a little less sensitive to your speech (You have to speak up a little more to get Alexa activated).
I understand the LED situation. I turned off the Status light so we will see how it is tonight. Is there a feature parity list between the Echo and Sonos One somewhere to see what features the One does not support? I'm wondering around the calling features.

Perhaps a tiny bit of electrical tape? :)
I've got my ONE up and running. I'm pleased overall.
Currently my only real disappointment is the lack the ONE's ability to in any way change the different speaker groups. This is a very very common task in the Sonos experience for me at least - hoping this is coming sooner than later. Support for Deezer would be very much appreciated at well.
Looking forward to the upcoming Google support - I'd likely prefer it, but Alexa does the trick for now.

What do you mean by "change the different speaker groups"? Sorry, I'm new to the Sonos world

🙂
One quick question - I cannot seem to get the "Teach Alexa Your Voice" to work on the ONE. In the Alexa app it is available and I click to "Begin" but the step is to select the device to perform this on and all my speakers are listed as online (obviously only the ONE will be able to do this) including the ONE speaker, but all options are grayed-out/non-selectable so it's impossible to continue. Is there something I may be missing?
There's a good list of what can and can't be done with the Alexa on Sonos One
here.
@Chickentender, voice training is only available on specific Echo devices right now. You can find the list of those devices
here. It's not on the Sonos One right now.

If you have multiple sonos speakers in different rooms, you can group them together in any combination so that they play the same music. It's always been possible to have different sonos speaker (or groups of speakers) playing different music simultaneously. This is all still possible within the Sonos app of course, but for instance I cannot say "Alexa, play rock music on Kitchen and Bedroom". You must pick a single room as far as my understanding/experience is thus far. I also cannot say "Alexa, remove Bedroom from current group" etc. or something like that.
Again - this all possible within the app still.

Ah yes, that makes sense. I knew the Sonos portion was possible but I certainly understand where you are coming from with the voice control.

What is the plan to be able to put Echos and Ones in the same group so I can play music on all of them Right now I can play music on the Sonos or play music on the Echos but not the same music at the same time on all of them. I was very disappointed when I discovered this gap.
This is a heads up post: I installed the new Sonos one yesterday but was unable to get the voice control working. I had previously used my phone to link the Sonos and Alexa accounts and was able to play music using voice control on my echo. When I got the Sonos One working I could not figure out how to get voice control working. I was using the Sonos app on my laptop because it's easier than the phone. I searched and read but was getting more and more frustrated when I noticed that every web page of instructions showed a phone. So I turned on the Sonos app on my phone and there were two red menu items: one for linking music and one for voice controls. In about 30 seconds Alex spoke from the Sonos One.
Please tell me if I missed something in the Windows app or did Sonos just make a major screw up by not specifying that YOU MUST USE YOUR PHONE to activate voice controls.

This is not possible at this time with any 3rd party speaker. Amazon is promising a new Multi-Room Music SDK that is supposed to address this issue next year. Whether Sonos can utilize that SDK is yet to be known.
I just recently got my Sonos One pair. Before that, I had a Play:1 pair and an Echo that had the sonos skill installed. With the skill I would ask Alexa on my Echo to play music through Sonos. Worked Great.
I've replaced the Play:1 pair with my new Sonos One pair. However, I'm seeing several things don't work so well. For example, after Alexa on Sonos One plays a song, if I ask it to repeat, I get a response that "It is not in playback mode". This was not the case earlier with my Alexa on Echo and Sonos integration.
Do I need to disable the Sonos skill in the Alexa app when using Sonos One?

Nevermind, just saw the instructions here: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4347#commands
I need to keep the Sonos skill enabled. Unclear why I'm unable to repeat a song after asking Alexa on Sonos One to play a single song (not a playlist).
usI bought two Sonos Ones as bedroom speakers. I had been ing the Vanatoo Transparent one speakers with Isoacustics stands, an Apple TV attached by optical, and Echo dot, and all the associated power and others cables. I replaced all of this with two Sonos One's.
I use Roon, Tidal, Apple Music, and Pandora. I'm looking forward to Airplay 2 support more than anything.
I wasn't that thrilled with the sound at first but got it to an acceptable level with Trueplay and the EQ settings. Attached is a picture of all that I replaced.
Ryan are there technical differences that would drive that decision? It's surprising to me that it's not currently planned for. Money is why they can’t be paired.

Yes 😃
