Hey all! 👋🏻 We've got a new update live for both iOS and Android, here's a quick breakdown of what's changed. Want the full history of what we've been up to? Check out our App Release Notes here and System (Player) Release Notes here.

As always, this is a Phased Rollout, think of it like a wave, not everyone gets it at the same time. If you're on iOS and want to nudge it along, head to the App Store, pull down on your Account page (the one showing pending updates), and give it a refresh. That usually does the trick.

What's New:

App Update

Android & iOS - Sonos 27.0 / 89.1

Ace Ultra support - The app now works hand in hand with our all new Ace Ultra headphones.
Beam Ultra support - Full compatibility with the new Beam Ultra soundbar.

As always, feedback and questions are welcome. We read it all. 🙏

@mhd, Have you tried third-party solutions like Plex or Roon? The Sonos Music Library hasn’t improved since 2018. Similar to S1 or the desktop apps, it’s basically only receiving security updates and bug fixes.

Hi Smilja, Thanks for that suggestion. I got SONOS speakers as they claimed compatibility with the iTunes Library without any third party work around. It worked on S1, except for the Album artwork loading awfully slow, but at least it worked. Are Plex or Roon free, and easy to set up? I fiddled around with Plex long time ago, when it was still beta, but it might be much better now.

Yeah, the staged rollout can be pretty frustrating when you’re waiting for a new device feature. I just wish there were a way to opt in and get the update sooner.

Sonos cannot predict Apple's future. Since the iTunes program is gone and music management has shifted to the Apple Music app, it's not as straightforward for third-party developers as it used to be.
