My Sonos Move 2 that I recently bought, is not playing music via Airplay when used in Roon or when used in Airfoil. All my other speakers (Naim, Sennheiser Amber) are without issues. Is related to Move 2 firmware I suspect.
I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
Same issue here. Move 2 speaker used to work fine with Airfoil. After an update last year, no dice.
My Arc, roam, beam and IKEA all work great. Just the Move2 won’t play from airfoil.
Rogue Amoeba support says Sonos is aware and is “working” on it. Something perhaps to do with grouping AirPlay1 and Airplay2 speakers together?
workaround: (annoying, but it works): start airfoil and pick your speakers. Select any working Sonos speaker. Go to Sonos App, and “join” the Move2 into a group with the working Sonos airfoil speaker. Viola!
Sonos has never supported AirPlay 1, only AirPlay 2.
