connecting roam 2 to NAS drive

I have my sonos system that I’ve had for years connected to my Synology NAS drive. I control the system through S1. I recently got roam 2 that I was hoping to easily add to my existing system but have found out that this can’t be done. I’ve had to download the latest Sonos app and control it through that. I also can’t find out how to connect this ‘new’ system to my NAS drive to play my stored music. Is there any way my roam can be connected to my existing system or do I need to use it as a standalone system? If so, how do I connect to my NAS drive? TIA, John

I’d think, in the software settings for the Synology, you could set the SMB versions available. You may need to refer to their manual on how to do so, or contact Synology’s customer service. I wouldn’t think you need to upgrade by purchasing a new NAS.

The ‘definition’ for the Roam does not exist in S1, it can not be used in that operating system.

S1 requires SMB v1 (as well as NTML v1). S2 requires SMB v2 or v3. Do you have the ability to set up  your Synology to use both?

Hi Bruce, thanks for your reply. I honestly don’t know if my Synology can use both. It’s a synology DS 115 and I’ve had it a few years! If it can’t, would this mean I’d have to upgrade my NAS to one that can use both to allow the roam and my existing system to access it? I’m not that technical minded to be honest and this seems a lot of hassle just to use the roam. Do you know if the first version of the roam can be added to an existing system and controlled through S1? Thanks, John

Thanks Bruce, I’ll try to get into my Synology settings and see what I can do.
