My daughter recieved the Roam about 4 years ago and has never been able to get it set up.  I recently began trying again to see if I could do it.  

It has been recognized by the system and Wifi has been connected but it will not allow me to register the device.  

I would like to at least be able to use it as a blue tooth speaker but understand that can’t be done unless the device is registered.

I don’t understand why this has to be so complicated with all the personal information required and the many steps needed.  I see instructions to reboot my router, turn the device on and off holding the button until the second tone…, and finally, to sign out of the app and back in.  All I want to do is use the speaker with Blue tooth.  This seems like a very touchy system for something that has been around for a number of years and for a speaker that is not inexpensive.  Why do I need a SONOS app to play music from Alexa or apple music?  I can do this through bluetooth from my phone or Alexa device.  It just all seems unnecessarily complicated.
