When writing up a topic, or replying to another user’s post, you can add videos or images, to create more context and get your point across. Or just to share something fun in the groups or in the Owners café. For instance in threads about someone's favorite music tracks, add in a YouTube video to the song instead of providing only the artist and song title in text.
Or add a gif showing how you attempt to complete a task within the app, instead of explaining each step.
Adding these types of content is what is called “Embedded media”.
Embedded media converts a supported link into a player directly on the community. An example is when people share YouTube videos on other platforms, where it allows you to play the video while staying on that page instead of going to YouTube and watching it.
This list shows some of the commonly used link types that are supported:
Gifs
- Giphy
- Tenor
Video
- Youtube
- Vimeo
Audio
- Deezer
- Soundcloud
- Spotify
This gif shows how to add an embedded link by pasting it:

Note: When embedding media, use the direct browser URL (e.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oxv6IRcuNaI) and not the embedded URL (https://www.youtube.com/embed/Oxv6IRcuNaI - mind the /embed/)
There are a few caveats. One is that cookies are essential for this feature to work on the community. Another is that some types of media might be region restricted. If a YouTube video does not play for you, that might be because it is restricted in your region, only to be played directly from YouTube, or not at all.
If the link you are trying to embed, as shown above, does not embed, you can do it manually.
- First select the three dots (more)
- Then click on embedded media.
- Then fill in the URL of the media you are trying to share and click add.
This gif shows the steps:

Note: The manual embed media feature, does not work on smartphone/tablets as the text editor has less options.
