Cannot get trueplay to set up my two play 1 and beam after moving. Very annoying. The app starts and the test tones are heard but it cannot fintune. Tried a friends phone as well as reboot iPhone. IOS version is 17.6.1 and Sonos app version 80.12.03.
I have a hearing devices and therfor a surround system helps me hearing. But now I hear the music very (very) loud but the voices…way to soft. I switched on the speech amplifier but not enough.
The sound is terrible and I cannot watch TV. Sound is totally unbalanced. And I cannot adjust a thing. please help, much appreciated!

I have a Beam (gen1) (Main Bedroom) with One (gen2’s) & Sub Mini and that’s Trueplay tuned okay, but my iOS device here is on iOS 18.1.1
I also have a Beam (gen2) (Kitchen) with Era 100s and Sub Mini and that TP tuned okay too.
IIRC, they also TP tuned okay when standalone, but that was with an earlier OS - so perhaps see what happens when your unbond your Play:1 surrounds and just see if that works. Then rebond the surrounds back and give the HT setup another try.
Also ensure you remove the case/cover from your iDevice - I just used an iPhone XR, FWIW.
Note if the problems persist after unbonding/rebonding the surrounds then it maybe best to reproduce the issue(s) seen and immediately submit a Sonos system diagnostic report from within the Sonos App, note it’s reference and contact/chat with Sonos Support Staff via this LINK and see what the Staff can perhaps suggest to help you to resolve the matter.
Hi,
thanks, tried it but no result so far. I cannot reach the beam…it behind the tv. Is there a way I can switch that off in the app?
then I will ask a family member to help out. All these noises …. Simply cannot handle that, sorry.
If you want the front channels louder then you can use the ‘TV Level’ slider control in the Sonos App, but ideally I would do that after unbonding/bonding the surrounds and trying TP tuning again.
Thanks, will try tomorrow again. I wanted to switch the tv sound (on the tv settings) to ‘tv’ but that keeps automatically switch to the beam. For now I switched off the tv. I don’t have the option to set the tv level. No slider…
sorry. I feel stupid. Worked perfectly in the former home, so I know I wasn’t that stupid once

Ha ha - the ‘TV level’ slider control is in the Sonos App HT settings (assuming you have bonded your surrounds correctly) - "Settings/rBeam room name]/Surround Audio" - see screenshot attached.
Ah. That is helpful. I do have that screen. But I translated that to adjust the level as in louder + or softer - . Who came up to use those signs for front or back (there are rules, Sonos!)

It’s perhaps best described as a balance control for the TV audio between the front and rear channels.
The other slider-control, just below it, is a similar feature for Music Audio, but that has an additional option of using Ambient, or Full, stereo sound for the rear speakers. I ‘mostly’ use Ambient, as I prefer the music soundstage out in front of the listening position.
This solved my “behind the TV” power plug problem.
second problem is, and maybe the first…is that I overestimated the capacity of the beam. It’s behind a plywood wall. And as I now understand that speech comes from the beam and the musicsounds from the play 1’s, I think I cannot use the beam at all. I hoped that if I connected it to my TV I could just let it be there and get all the sounds from my Play 1’s. And then maybe could select the TV speaker as well. Or let that join in. I cannot place the beam under the tv since that is a Samsung the frame with a rotating wall mount…and under that is an electric fire place….
so…guess I have to come up with an idea how to put the beam connected to the tv but merely out of sight (awful things imho) . Maybe vertical at the left side or something.
Such a pity that wireless is not possible.
if someone has an idea how to do it…?
@Vashje
You’d perhaps be better off with the Sonos Amp HT setup with two, in-wall, or floor-standing, speakers, one on either side of the TV and use the two Play:1’s as rear surrounds. See link & video below:
Front left, right and center all come from the Beam, it really has to be centered on the TV and unobstructed.
Go Amp and speakers as suggested.
Yes, that’s the way to go I think.
Not the cheapest option, so have to see if I can create budget…
Otherwise I could maybe mount the beam on top of the baseboard/toeboard.
Thanks all!!
If you don't have speakers in mind Crutchfield.com has some excellent discussion on a lot of different ones. Good pictures too, might help find ones that both look and sound good.
I would never put speakers behind a plywood wall, and expect them to work. Counterintuitive to me to obstruct the audio waves being emanated by whatever speaker is in use. I even question those ‘in ceiling, behind drywall’ speakers, but I don’t have any personal experience, perhaps their physical design takes care of that, something no Sonos devices do.
I tested and there’s enough space above the ‘fireplace’ (which is no more than light) to mountain there. I’m gonna test how the sound is when beam is mounted under the fireplace and above. will take a while because I need an extra hand to remove the fireplace. so i’ll be back .
thanks so far for all the input.
