I received my new Arc Ultra today and I was looking forward to switching from Arc to Arc Ultra. But after one hour of fruitless attempts I gave up. Yes, I have a brand new Ultra sitting in its package in my living room and for the life of me I couldn’t get it to work with my setup (Sub3, 2 x Era 300 surround speakers). The current system works flawlessly, is connected to my wifi and works fine. The moment I try to hook up the Ultra I’m unable to get it to work with my current wifi. The network pops up sometimes, most of the times none of my wifi connections can be seen. Consequently, the Ultra winks out and the usual suggestions for repairing the wifi pop up. Since my wifi works flawlessly with my Arc I see the problem more on the side of the Ultra. After having gone through the same hassles with the Ace and the ongoing problems with the app, I was hoping that the installation this time round should be a straightforward five minute job. Well, the speaker is back in its package. I’ll give it new shot tomorrow. Bottom line: Sonos, you are again not covering yourself in glory.

Do you need an app update?

Yes, I was thinking that too. I did the update and I’m hoping that this will solve the issue. But after one hour of tearing out my hair I need a break….

It’s a shame really, if you are up-to-date. Only yesterday we were told by Sonos:

“For new customers, the experience of setting up your Sonos system or a new product for the first time is critical, and I’m pleased to share that our success rate here is now the highest we have ever measured, significantly exceeding the previous app”.

I am also having trouble with ultra, this is my first Sonos product and I was very hopeful and excited to set it up. But it doesn’t show up in the app. If I press the Bluetooth button a small sound and nothing else appear. The app can’t find anything, but if I go to settings to update network settings the product comes up. I don’t know what to do further. I have disconnected several times and still nothing

But it would make sense, since the release notes for yesterday’s updates includes the line:

  • Support for the all-new Arc Ultra soundbar and Sub 4

Cant get trueplay to start, both fast and advanced isnt working

I installed Arc ultra, Sub gen3, and Era 100 today. Everything works except TRUEPLAY. Iphone 14, Iphone 15 pro max, everything is up to date. I only succeeded with my ipad pro, but it's the fast trueplay. Trueplay doesn't work with my iphones???

I managed to get everything up and running. The most important aspect is: UPDATES! Get every loudspeaker updated, get the app updated. If you’re switching from Arc to Arc Ultra with a speaker setup (e.g. Sub plus Era speakers), factory reset all the speakers. Update them. With that I managed to integrate all speakers step by step. My final step will be to activate Truplay, haven’t done that yet. Here’s hoping it wil go smoothly…..

I found a solution for me. I removed my surround speakers (era 100) from the configuration. I tried advanced trueplay it worked. I then added my surround speakers and redid advanced trueplay and BINGO it works. The problem was probably with the initial installation of the surround speakers...

Truplay worked like a charm. So, Sonos, thank you. Suggestion: Maybe prepare a guideline as to how to switch smoothly from Arc to Arc Ultra with a speaker setup. I’m sure there are people out there who’d appreciate it.

I suggest that users refrain from Factory Reset. While it may accidentally, temporarily ride through an issue, Factory Reset does not often remedy fundamental issues, but it does cause lots of extra work.

The fundamental issue here is that surrounds must be removed from the old unit before they can be added to the new unit. This is a one click operation.

i have the issue that when i see the system it lists all the products but in the app the system just lists the arc ultra. How do i add the other speakers to my setup? so frustrating

Did you add the Arc Ultra to your existing system when you set it up or did you create a nes system for it?

If you did the new system factory reset the Ultra, connect to your old system and use the add function to add the Ultra to it.

Why factory reset all the speakers?  I have the Arc-Sub3-300s.  If I get the Arc Ultra I will simply use the app to Remove the Sub4 & 300s then the move the Arc to the bedroom, put the Arc Ultra where the Arc was and add “Bond” the Sub3 & 300s to the Arc Ultra.  May use the Arc Ultra alone for some time first before bonding the Sub3-300s.

I've literally just picked up my Ultra which is obviously replacing our current OG Arc but I'm still a bit miffed on how I go about the process.

I'm going to sell my OG Arc as we have a Beam Gen 2 in our bedroom which is perfectly fine so I'm not looking to 'move' it anywhere apart from on to a new owner.

Thus I want to totally remove and unregister it from our system but the only option the app is giving me is to remove the 300's and the second Sub. Blimey it's not even giving me the option to remove the first Sub so I'm totally confused.

Could anyone please help me out a bit with this?

If you remove the Second Sub does it then show Remove First Sub??

I've got no idea mate, I ain't even unpacked the Ultra, let alone made a start on the actual switch over process yet

The fact I'm out walking the dog rather than being indoors with my system kind of proves I weren't expecting such a rapid response so thank you for getting back to me so quickly.

I must admit that I did wonder that myself: as in if I remove Sub 2 would I then get the option to remove Sub 1 and then remove the 300's to hopefully give me the option to finally remove the OG Arc too.

The problem with being such early adopters of new gear is we invariably end up being the guinea pigs.

The wife's away for the weekend so I'm sensing I might well be able to get away with upgrading to the Ultra without her noticing 🤔 but even she will clock something is up if she gets home and the audio ain't right on the telly.

I updated my Sonos Arc to the new Sonos Arc Ultra.  System would not work with my rear 300s nor my two sub gen 3.  I had to factory reset my 300s and my two gen 3 subs.  After doing this I was able to get everything going.  However, prior to get the new Arc I had a white light on each component.  This way I could tell that they were on.  With the new Arc Ultra the lights are no longer visible.  Have no idea why.  Even the new Arc shows no light indicating it is on.  Is this normal?

I got it all set up with zero hiccups I am very relieved to report.

Through the app I literally removed Sub 2, removed the Surrounds, then Sub 1 was there to remove which I did but there was no option to remove the OG Arc. I did the obvious and just pulled the power and disconnected it from the telly.

Hooked up the Ultra to the telly, powered it up and it was the usual flawless set-up process I've been lucky to experience with nigh on every new product I've bought.

After completing the update I was able to add the Surrounds and both Subs seamlessly. Everything appears to be running perfectly with both Subs booming, Surrounds performing like they should and a real marked improvement in the quality of the dialogue in action heavy content from the Ultra compared to the OG.

The only problem I've got is my system is showing up 2 Living Rooms and I'm not finding any way to remove/delete the old 1 that had the OG Arc?

The original Arc will disappear from the app in a day or two if left unplugged.

You can’t yet hide the product/room from the app like you could in S2.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, much appreciated.

So just to confirm, that means that the second Living Room showing as 'Not Connected' will just disappear from my Sonos on the app in a few days, right?

Correct. The notice is a mixed blessing — helpful if a player lost power or network support, annoying if a unit has been removed from the system.

Great stuff thank you. I have already done the factory reset on the OG in preparation for whoever has it off me so their setting it up should go smoothly and that should be that now 😀

@Mr. T and @buzz as you both said, the OG Arc Living Room group has disappeared from the app now so thanks again 👍🏻
