Have a Playbar and 2x Play:1 set up for surround sound system. Has been working fine for years but about 2 months ago it stopped working. Everything is set up as it's own room but not connected to each other. When I try to  "set up surrounds" it says there is an update needed. I press update, then it scans for updates, then the update screen just dissappears. This is just keeps happening.

 

Have been onto Sonos support chat and on phone and they haven't a clue how to fix it. Not great.

Is this an S1 or S2 system? Don’t Factory Reset any players yet.

Sometimes the controller gets its knickers tied in knots and deleting and reinstalling the controller will untangle the knots. Controller reinstall will not destroy your music service setups or SONOS playlists.


Solved. Not sure exactly what solved it but updating the app itself was key.
