Sub Gen 2 cross over keeps default to zero

I can’t get my sub to hold the setting I set it to. Each time it defaults to zero for cross over. And regardless of what I set. It does not sound any better.

I have unplugged and powered my amp up. I have done the same to my sub.

I have run true play again.

All the equipment is up to date and has most recent updates

That’s odd that it isn’t keeping your settings.

I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

@Ace_Rover - a couple of things you could try.

In your Family room, remove the Amp from Arc Ultra, then check whether the Crossover frequency is still visible in the room’s settings. It shouldn’t be as the Amp is no longer a consideration in the room’s settings configuration. Then, re-add the Amp for surround duty and check the Sub Audio menu to see if Crossover frequency has returned. If it has, then it suggests an app issue.

You could also fully remove the app from your device and install a fresh version to see if that makes any difference.

As it was working, do you have a device with an older version of the app loaded that you could try?

Even a different controller device on the same app version could prove interesting.

I just got off the phone with Sonos support. It looks like the issue is a UI / app related that is being reviewed by their engineering team and potentially fixed in future software updates.

We were able to replicate the issue. First I removed the Sonos sub and Sonos Amp that were connected to the Family Room Sonos Arc. 1) When I added back in only the Sonos Sub (gen 3) and paired it with my Arc, the crossover frequency does not show as an option (as intended, according to Sonos). 2) When I added back in the Sonos amp as surrounds, the crossover frequency glitch showed again… meaning it was showing “0 hz” and reverting back to 0 hz after trying to make changes.

I was told that this is an app UI glitch, and that it should not be impacting the sound quality of my setup. So, I guess I’ll go with that for now…

Thanks all for the tips. Lots of really helpful ideas.

This is incredible news. I hope they work at getting this situation resolved. I’m happy you were able to articulate all this to the support staff.

They should offer you like 75% off on some item of your choice

As I recall the sub crossover setting is only applicable when bonded to an amp with 3rd party speakers. Otherwise say when bonded to a soundbar or other Sonos speakers the crossover is set according to the lead Sonos product. When I get home I’ll research further.

In my case with an Arc-Sub-300s bonded as a surround Room the Crossover setting does not even exist.  If an Amp was being used as surrounds there would be no reason to have crossover adjustments as that setting would be based on the frequency balance between the Arc and the Sub.  AjTrek1 is right here.

When the Amp + Sub is used for stereo does the Crossover setting work correctly?

@Zac8311 thanks for the kind words : )

@MoPac yes, when sub gen 3 is paired with sonos amp only, and not with arc, it does show crossover frequency and behaves as intended.

The app glitch regarding crossover frequency we discovered is isolated to when arc + sonos sub + sonos amp for surrounds is configured.

i’ll post again if the app glitch is resolved in future updates…
