When era 100s are connected as surrounds do all drivers on Arc fire? What happens to side firing ones?

Does Arc + Sub & Rears work as 5.1.2? Assuming Arc does 5 channels (front)?

Arc+surrounds+Sub is 5.1.2 in the old parlance.  However, Atmos is a spatial codec, which means the sounds are assigned a position in the room rather than a specific channel.  So which drivers are firing depends on your room layout, instead of the old way of always playing in the channel it was assigned to.

Thank you for your reply. So with surrounds added if would truly be 5.1.2. Currently Arc + Sub is creating virtual surrounds isn’t it? When surrounds are added, those drivers might be used for wider soundstage for LCR?

I just want to make sure Sonos doesn’t disable drivers when surrounds are connected.

No, the Arc doesn’t create virtual surrounds.

Sonos doesn’t disable any speakers in the Arc when surrounds are added.

Oh, I always thought it did. While watching content many times ambient sound felt like it came from behind due to wall bouncing off sound. Thank you for your reply!
