Sonos remembers last used speakers when watching TV, it's annoying

Forum|alt.badge.img

I noticed that If I use airplay (or the Sonos app) to play music or podcasts on my Sonos speakers, then the next time I turn on the TV the sound will come from all of the speakers. I don’t want this. I want the sound only to come from the Arc Ultra soundbar, not speakers in other rooms. I have to manually deselect the other speakers in the app, even when I used airplay when I was using them. Is there a way to deal with this so that only the soundbar will be used automatically when using the TV, and if not will this be addressed?

You need to make sure TV Autoplay is enabled in your app. This should be enabled by default so check if you haven’t disabled it. Ungroup on Autoplay should also be enabled(by default).

It’s already on.

From my research just now it seems TV autoplay only switches the audio to the TV when turning the TV on, but what I want is Sonos to use the speakers I used with the TV, not all the speakers in the house. For example when I am cleaning I want to listen to a podcast on all speakers, but when watching TV later I only want the sound to come from the Arc Ultra. For this I have to remove the other speakers in the app, even if I used Airplay to sync audio to them. Edit: didn’t see you modified it, so put it as the answer. Thanks!

Both the Auto-Play and Ungroup are on?

I haven’t seen your issue when both are on so you may want to recreate the problem and submit a diagnostic.

While the direct problem was resolved, I want to add that it doesn’t work properly. The app shows the last used devices in the bottom view, even though the Arc Ultra is currently playing the sound. I have to manually toggle devices on/off and press apply to get the Arc Ultra to show up in the bottom view. I would expect the current playing device to be the one that should show up in the bottom view by default. Edit: removed a mistake. @Stanley_4 @marsbeetle

Have you tried swiping up the thingy that looks like a button on the bottom of your screen showing the last used speaker, in stead of tapping it? Then you should see all the speakers and you would be able to choose the Arc Ultra without toggling devices on and off.

I think the app shows the last speaker you used with the app, not the speaker in use if this is turned on by other means, like your TV. This is not illogical to me, though it might indeed not fit your use case.

Didn’t even realise that. That makes it easier.
