Sonos Port Setup with samsung tv and samsung soundbar set

Does this Samsung soundbar have an extra analog input in it? Either that, or you’d need to use an analog input on the TV, which would require the TV to be on when streaming through Sonos….

Thank you for your response. I am new to the audio language, so forgive if my questions are basic. I have an digital audio output on my soundbar. Is this the connection that you are referring to when you say an "analog input". 

No, unfortunately not. The word ‘digital’ means not ‘analog’. And ‘output’ means it isn’t an ‘input’.

And nothing to be ashamed about ‘basic questions’, this is mostly a ‘no judgement’ zone. 
 

I suspect there is no ‘easy’ way to connect a Sonos Port to this system. Manufacturers tend not to prioritize interoperability with ‘home theater’ setups like this. Sonos included.

Correction to one of my inputs. I have an digital audio input (not output) and two hdmi inputs along with the hdmi arc input for my TV. 

Is there an converter or switch or adaptor that I can use to convert my digital audio input to analog input OR an inbetween that I can use to convert one of the hdmi inputs to an analog input. Either way, I then can use the sonos combo adapter to connect the inbetween device to the port (if necessay) Or something of this nature. 

Now this is theory but im not sure about in action. What would i need. Your thoughts.

Playing a PORT through the TV might not be practical. If you have an audio device that can connect to an audio system using RCA plugs, connect this device to the TV’s red and white audio input jacks. This device could be an old CD player or something with a headphone output and adapter cord.

I suggest this test because some TV’s will not accept an audio only device, these TV’s will deal only with video sources, such as a VCR or DVD player. If the LG TV will accept this audio only source, then you have proven that the TV will accept PORT.

If I may I’d like to add a bit of “Port 101” correct usage.😊

In the simplest of terms the Port is a “link ”for Sonos to non-Sonos equipment or vise versa.

• Arc (or any Sonos speaker) Sends Audio to Port with a set of powered speakers connected to the Ports Analog Outputs or Digital Output
• Arc (or any Sonos speaker) Sends audio to Port connected to an AVR’s Analog Inputs or Digital Input that may have a set of wired speakers connected
• Arc (or any Sonos speaker) Receives Audio from Port that is connected to AVR’s Analog Output to the Ports Analog Input. The AVR has a selected source playing audio such as a turntable or CD player

Does your current setup match any of the above? Also, what type of audio is involved? Music is OK; but as @buzz stated TV audio is not practical.

Note: Your Samsung is represented by the powered speakers; but more closely the AVR.

Hi There. Similar question. I replaced my Sonos Arc with a Samsung Q990C (because it was about the same price as two 300’s) but I really now miss having audio sync with the rest of my home. The Q990C has an optical input as well as two HDMI inputs directly. I am wondering two things regarding the Port: Has anyone tried to connect a Port to the Q990C, and if so which method did you use to connect Optical/HDMI. The second question is; did you find any setting to reduce or eliminate any potential DSP delay in the Q990C’s output so that you don’t have any drag/delay between the Q990C’s output and the rest of the speakers in your home?

The Port has no HDMI connection. You can only use its digital Coxial Output to your Samsung Q990C. You would need a device like this and the proper cables to make the connections. The Port would then be able to send music streamed by Sonos to the Q990C. There shouldn’t be any noticeable delay as the Port will see the Q990C as a powered speaker.
