Hello Sonos:
I was thinking of buying a Sonos Beam Gen 2 and two ES 100 to use as a home cinema. However, I have found that these have a serious problem
In order to calibrate the sound and make it sound as it should, you need to use the TruePlay setting. The problem is that I don't have access to a compatible ios device to do this and I don't know anyone who has one either.
I don't know to what extent it is worth getting this system, although people say that without TruePlay it is not worth it
Depending on an ios device to do it is actually quite limiting
Probably the best thing would be to get some portable device that is not too expensive with a microphone to be able to use it and thus calibrate the home cinema
I don't know what people here think, but I personally don't dare spend what the equipment is worth and then not be able to get the most out of it.
It is something that should be fixed in the future
What do you people here think?
Is the Sonos Beam worth it with the rear speakers without being able to use TruePlay?
Thanks

The Beam2 with Era 100's (not ES 100) as surrounds still offers EQ adjustments for Bass and Treble. The Beam2 offers height adjustments as well.
Trueplay isn't a silver bullet for optimizing your Sonos. In fact for those with a "good ear" Trueplay can actually make the the sound less appealinig in some situations.
My best advice is to purcahse the system and judge for yourself if the sound is to your liking. Sonos has a generous retrun policy if not saisfied. Just make sure not to destroy the packaging. Also most retailers offer at least a 15 Day trial period.
One more note....Sonos home theater setups really perfom best with a sub. You might consider adding a Sonos submini to your budget.
One last point....if you don't have access to an iOS device how would make a comparison as to how the setup would sound with Trueplay...espeially given that Trueplay may or maynot make a significant difference? Just food for thought 🤔
