Hello all. New to the Sonos ecosystem and an having this issue as described by a previous post. The post was locked with. I solution being provided and I have searched far and wide for a solution. All of my Sonos speakers, no matter the room they are in, will go into a “perma-mute” showing a solid green light. Only way to unmute is to physically touch the volume on the speaker or to go into the app and tap the unmute button. Please help!

I’d also be tempted to submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, their lawyers get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system

Have you checked all your home automation/voice systems to see if they are sending the mute command?

Although I’ve never seen any posts suggesting this, I can imagine a rogue button on a player or a screen area on a controller that causes this. Are your players Grouped? As a test keep them unGrouped and observe if the issue is associated with one player.

There have been reports of cats … .

Specifically with SPOTIFY it is possible for someone who has been a guest operator in your house to retain some control over SPOTIFY playing on your system after they leave, but this usually involves music starting at odd times.

Thank you all for the suggestions, I greatly appreciate the insight. So here’s the detailed setup to maybe help find a solution.

TV 1 via Apple TV4k- Arc Ultra, Sub 4

TV 2 via Apple TV4k - Beam 2

Kitchen - Era 100

This setup all worked just fine for any use up until a month or so ago, flawlessly prior to that and used the exact same way.  None of these are connected to home automation and are all brand new as of September 2025. I purchased these and set them up via the app on my phone and that’s it…nobody else has the app nor has controlled these units. Additionally, they have never been connected to Spotify or any services through the app. These are primarily used for watching tv and occasionally playing music via pandora on my phone.

Primary use is football days…TV1 and TV2 sit next to each other. When main game is on, TV1 is active and TV2 is muted. When commercial comes on, TV2 is active and TV1 is muted. If muted for 4ish minutes that when I cannot get it to unmute without using app or physical touch.
