Should I angle the ERA 300?

Hi,

I just bought a pair of ERA 300 surrounds for my ARC Ultra and Sub Mini.

I would like to know if I should angle the speakers or keep them straight ahead. It depends on the room from what I’ve read.

The ERA 300 are approximately at the same height as the Sonos floorstands and approximately 3,8 ft from the side walls (measured from the center of the speaker). I use the official Sonos wall mounts and have to keep them where they are placed now.

Room dimensions:

Room Width 18 ft

Depth: 12 ft

Distance from floor to ceiling: 8,6 ft

I’d mount them straight and live with them for a few movies before considering changing the angle. If you can run the Trueplay system to optimize the sound.

Once you know what they sound like straight try fiddling, again Trueplay after every change if possible. I’d pick a movie you like with lots of surround/height audio to do the fiddling with.

Since the surround sound comes out the side of the 300, and the 300s are relatively close to a wall, my preference is slightly angled so sound bounces off the wall to the “sweet spot"

Thanks for your answers. I will have play around then. Slight angle seems to improve the bubble for me.

do have exact same setup but replaced  now the Era 300 with Era 100 as rears.

using 2 x Era300 in the same room now only for music

I was not much satisfied using Era 300s as rears. what about you ?

What made you pick ERA 100 over ERA 300?

I sadly have nothing to compare with. The ERA 300 do add enough for me when watching movies and being able to try out Dolby Atmos in Apple Music. The stock sound (especially the ARC Ultra) had way to much bass though, starting with Peter Pee:s settings did help a lot to tame the bass.

I come from Hifi where you easily can buy a cable for the same price as a pair of ERA 300, so for me they are well worth it.

well, imo the Era 300 at rear are waste . I barely hear them when watching movies and honestly I didn't like the sound ( even Dolby Atmos ) when I was listening to music via apply TV Apple Music with my setup ( Ultra + 2 x Era 300 4+ sub mini ).

I already had the Era 100 and I decided to replace them with the Era 300 in order to be able to listen to music anytime I want ( otherwise I had to disconnect the surround from my system to use 2 x Era 300 alone which takes time)

when I want some more bass , I am also able to add the sub mini to the Era 300 whenever I want.

I was able to compare ( just for music ) 3 different setting;

1st ultra + 2 x Era300 + sub mini ;

2nd ultra + sub min and the last was 2 x Era 300 + sub min and the last one was the best for me to listen to music only
