At first it seemed the Soundbar worked well, but now the tv sound is there as well but not in sync with the Soundbar. How can this be remedied, please?
Forgot to say, TV is Samsung

In the settings menu for the TV (and damn Samsung for blocking cut and paste at least from the iPad I’m using), check Menu>Sound>Sound Mode…or somewhere in that structure, look for ‘Speaker Select’. That should be set, I think, to ‘External Speaker’. Is it?

The Sonos Ray will usually play whatever is handed to it as quickly as possible through the optical cable.
What TV do you have? What are the audio settings on it? What device is feeding the TV? What are your test case shows, and where are they from? What does the Sonos controller say the format being received over the optical cable is?

Are you saying the audio is playing through the tv speakers as well as through the Ray? If so we’ll need the tv model to know how you get to silence the TV’s inbuilt speakers.
I’ll try to answer. The Tv is UE406710 -not the newest, but the system worked ok for the first few weeks. Since Christmas the sound seems to be coming from the tv as well as the soundbar.
I don’t know how to see what device is feeding the tv. Or test case show? What Sonos Controller where?
I also have a Port (and two One SLs but not active when watching tv)
Worthy answers and questions ;) Understanding on both sides is paramount!
In the Sonos app (or controller), when showing what is playing on the TV input, there should be an indication of what the Ray is receiving from the TV. It could be stereo, it could be 2.0 PCM, or it could be Dolby Digital. Those are from memory, it might be something different, I’m curious as to what you see.
As to your test case, I’m wondering what ‘show’ you’re watching. That might give us an indication of what you’re seeing in the controller app…or it might not, but is a good piece of data.
Another useful piece of data is where the ‘source’ is coming from, for instance, a TV’s own channels, a TV’s apps, or a device connected to the TV, such as an Apple TV, a firestick, or a Blu-ray player. And how it is connected can be significant. Especially with a Ray, which uses an optical connection which is one way, so it can’t use CEC to communicate back to the TV to tell it anything.
Now, I need to go find the manual for this TV, download it, and make sure I know what settings are necessary to turn off the TV’s internal speakers, on the offhand chance that wasn’t done properly, as well as any additional settings.
