I am going in circles here, moving settings around on TV and Roku and still cannot get PCM off. I have a TCLQLED model number 55Q681G and I have the arch with the Sonos Beam 2 plug plugged into it and a Roku that I run on my video through plugged in the HDMI three I see all the settings that I read about, but I just can’t get Dolby to pipe through and show on my app. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance

A few questions:

First, what are you using as a test? For instance, YouTube (Free) takes all uploaded videos and converts them to stereo, no matter what the user posts.

Second, just to confirm, when you said arch, did you mean the Sonos is plugged in to the ARC (Audio Return Channel) port on the TV? The Roku TV source would be plugged in to any other HDMI port.

Third, is CEC (or whatever TCL calls it) turned on? The Sonos reports to the CEC controller in the TV what formats it can receive, and the TV is supposed to, via CEC (which ARC is a part of), pass on that data to all inputs, including the Roku.

First of all you need to change your HDMI connections:

  • The Beam 2 should be plugged into HDMI 3 (G/H). That is the eARC (Audio Return Channel).
  • Plug the Roku device into HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 (G)

Using your remote open the settings menu to set the sound output to:

  • External soundbar or External speakers

Also in the menu look for CEC settings activation which may be called one of three (3) names below:

  • Control Other Devices
  • T-Link
  • HDMI Control
