So I’ve had Sonos for almost 10 years. My Playbar and Sub has been running all that time with zero issues. I might have gad to connect my Sub once or twice in all that time. Playbar is still running perfectly today. In December last year I decided to treat myself and finally get those One SL’s as surround sound (late to the party). It was great for the first 2 months.
Then all of the sudden they started acting up. They disconnected. One connected the other one didn’t. Then they worked. I had to reboot router several times a week and restart my speakers and do the reconnect. I struggled with that for a month. Then suddenly one of the speakers just didn’t want to connect anymore. I spent two days with support and they finally decided to send me a new one. They messed with my network (which wasn’t an issue before and never has been) and the new speaker came and everything got connected and it worked. Sort of. It never runs smoothly. Sometimes they disappear in the app, and only one speaker is making background sounds. Now.. for the past two months, the speakers frequently disconnects again. Flashing white and sometimes green. And then connects. Then disconnects again and I have to do the whole setup thing. My sub has started doing the same thing. It has never done that before. It’s the OF sub and it has been running smoothly for 9 years. The last 6 months has been hell. I am doing more maintenance on my speakers than any other electronic device in my house. It’s not my network. I have never had any problems with my network before.
I am losing my patience with Sonos. It’s at a stage now where I’m giving up and I’m deciding to sell my speakers and buy another brand. I have been so happy with Sonos for so long that this is just very annoying. I just wanted to have surround sound and it has been a pain in the a** since I bought them. I am very disappointed. They annoy me so much that I sometimes give up watching a movie because they disconnect and connects during the movie, and sometimes only one of them does it.
I’ve always recommended Sonos to friends and family, but the last time I was asked about Sonos I said ‘Don’t do it. Buy something more reliable’ and it pains me.
