no tv sound Beam

I have a Sony TV and connected my new Beam to a HDMI ARC input. The Beam is connected to my network and to the app on my iPhone. I get no sound from the Beam even if I go to Settings on the TV and change output from TV speakers to Audio System.

I don’t find Bravia Link (HDMI-CEC) in the settings. Is that different from Bravia Sync? If not, where might it be?

Bravia is the name of Sony's CEC implementation, so try turning that setting on.

XBR-55X700D. Its vintage is Oct 2016. The bar is plugged into HDMI 3, which is labeled ARC in the TV’s settings.

Is Bravia Link (HDMI-CEC) turned on in your TV settings?

The manual is not very helpful. Maybe page 246 will point you in the right direction. You may need to enable BRAVA SYNC.

I’m hooked up as it says in p 246 of the manual.

When I try to enable Bravia Sync, I get this message on the TV: “Not available while BRAVIA Sync audio system is used.” Then I had to go to the Audio Output page in TV settings to unselect Audio system prioritization before I could unselect Audio system and enable the TV’s own speakers again.
