some years ago one of the bands I follow released their albums with a remaster and it comes in 5.1 surround

I want to make the most of my blue ray player here and set it up once in a while to play these

i have an older play bar connected to the tv the blue ray player is attached to

then I can add my sub mini and the pair of Play 1’s I have - I assume it would be

Playbar - centre

Sub mini - subwoofer

Play 1’s - rear channels

am I right in thinking Sonos will just auto adjust the 5.1 surround to meet what it has ?

The Playbar, like all soundbars, has the front left-center-right channels in one enclosure.  So with the surrounds and Sub you have a 5.1 system which supports DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1.
