Issues with audio output for Dolby True HD/Atmos

Hi!

2 weeks ago I downloaded The Sinners movie Blu-Ray Remux with Dolby True HD + Atmos 7.1 original audio. Before watching a Blu-Ray Remux file I always check that whether the icon in Sonos app shows "Dolby Atmos" so I confirm that the audio quality is the highest possible. I confirmed this for the The Sinners but had to postpone the watching part.

However, today I have finally found the time to watch it but I have just discovered that instead of Dolby Atmos icon the Sonos app suddenly shows Dolby Multichannel PCM 5.1. Why is that? Has something happened in the recent days? Is it the software/hardware update?

My set-up:

TV: Sony Bravia XR 55A75K
Audio: Sonos Arc Ultra + Sub Mini + 2 Ones SL
External device for Dolby True HD: Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (before commercial change adding "Plus")
App used for watching: Plex

Hope someone can clarify because I don't understand what happened, 2 weeks ago everything worked like a charm.

Thank you!

Not sure I can  help but to clarify your post.

You are playing the downloaded file from a Plex server to your Firestick 4k which is selected for viewing and your Arc Ultra is connected to the Sony eARC HDMI output?

If not, more details will help folks respond better.

Yes, it’s correct. I have checked and this has happened to all my Blu-Ray movies.

Hi @mekhovichok

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

I am sorry to hear about this issue you are having with not receiving Atmos audio when playing your movie!

Your Arc Ultra will only ever play what it is fed by the other components in your Home Theatre system - I recommend that you check the settings on your Plex app, your Amazon stick and your TV. Look for audio output format options, specifically. Start with the TV and set its option to Passthrough or Bitstream. If that does not help, check for similar settings on the other two I mentioned. If any mention of Atmos is present, ensure it’s enabled.

If this does not fix the issue, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.
