The Beam needs to connect directly to the projector via HDMI ARC or optical. The Apple TV needs to connect directly to the projector via HDMI.

To further that point, most projectors do not have HDMI ARC and many do not have an optical output either, which means, as has been discussed in many threads especially in the Home Theater section of the forum, that you’d likely need to use an HDMI switch of some kind, with an optical output.
