I bought a brand new Sonos Ray today from Argos in the UK.

The sound is working, but when I try to connect the TV remote via the app for volume control, it doesn't recognise the remote.

TV Model - Bush DLED32HDS

Steps to reproduce my issue.

1. Open sonos app and go to Sonos Ray > Use IR > Remote Control Setup

2. Click Setup TV remote and Continue

3. Point my TV remote at the sonos ray and tv, press the volume + button once

4. Get a message of 'your tv remote wasnt recognised. Lets set it up'

5. Click continue

6. Point my TV remote at the sonos ray and tv, press the volume + button 3 times

Observation: the status light on the front of the ray flashes after each button press on the tv remote

7. Get a message 'We didnt detect a signal from your tv remote.

8. I click 'try again' to repeat, but get the same message as step 7 each time.

Things I have tried:

Checked the tv manual to confirm it has an infra red remote.

Checked tv settings, but cant find anything relevant.

Changed tv remote batteries to new ones.

Turned everything off at the plug, and back on again.

Tried the steps above with the tv turned off.

In step 6, tried pressing volume + button continually instead of just 3 times.

Check the tv remote IR using my mobile camera, I can see it flashing.

Any ideas or advice on how to get the remote working for volume control?

I have submitted diagnostics via the app: 10224014

Thanks in advance!

This is a community support site, unfortunately Sonos Support doesn’t monitor it, only Sonos moderators. Now that you’ve submitted a system diagnostic, I would call Sonos Support to discuss it.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
