Hi

im building a media wall and wanted to build a recess/ niche to put Sonos beam into , leaving approx 50mm gap all around it 

will this work ok?

It should be ok. Sonos recommends 50 mm minimum clearance on both sides and 25 mm minimum clearance on the top (if you want to access the touch controls). But it wouldn’t hurt to add a little more space on the sides to give the two side-firing drivers a little more space to work. You also want to make sure the Beam isn’t too deep into the recessed wall. Try to keep the front of the Beam flush with the outer wall.
