Hi,

I recently added a switch 2 to my set up. When I did this I changed the order of my HDMI ports. Obviously, I kept my beam 2 in the earc port of my LG TV.

Since I made this change, the audio will cutout for less than a second every few minutes. It happens on multiple HDMI ports. I originally thought this was a switch 2 problem, but today I noticed it while watching my apple tv.

I have a beam 2, mini sub, and to One SL speakers as surrounds. Any ideas on what’s going on here?

I‘ve tried turning off and on again.

Thanks for any help!

OK, guys after trying for fix today, with no fix, it’s now likely that I’m going to sell my set up and and move to sound bar from different brand.

Things I’ve tried since last posting,

Factory reset all speakers and added again.

Connected beam via Ethernet instead of wifi. I'm connected to Sonosnet.

Unplugged, PS5, Series X, Switch 2. Only Apple tv and beam is now connected to TV.

Has anyone got an idea I could try as a last shot for fixing?

Thank you

Next thing to try is to connect the Beam 2 Via ethernet. Does that sound something that will work or I’m I wasting my time?

If that doesn’t work, I may well sell this pos. Life is too short :)

Edit:  chat told me that ‘the diagnostic is detecting potential issues with the bandwidth and some wireless interference around the Beam in particular’.

I wonder, since the problems started with switch 2, could that console be causing the interference in any way?

Devices in close proximity of one another can cause wireless interference. Wireless interference can also be caused by Bluetooth devices. As the diagnostic indicated interference around the Beam, how is your Apple TV connected to the router? If you’re not using the ethernet connection, then I would try that on the Apple TV.

Apple tv is via Ethernet :(

I’ve been reading up overnight on this - try Wireless Audio Sync in the Apple TV’s settings. If the Dolby Atmos has even the slightest drift in sync with the picture, over time that drift will add up and so the soundbar will drop momentarily to recalibrate and line things up again. Some people feel strongly this is what causes the one second drop out, which only occurs with Atmos being quite complex when it takes the form of Dolby Digital+ like the streamers use.

So run Wireless Audio Sync (which I thought was just for wireless speakers but it turns out it’s also for devices connected by HDMI). It ensures perfect sync of video and sound apparently. I’m going to try it later. Then try watching 30-40 mins of Dolby Atmos content and see if it helps.

if it doesn’t work, you can just Reset Wireless Audio Sync and it will go back to how it was.

Thank you. Will try this.

So, as an update to all this -

Guy I've been speaking to all day at sonos support has emailed me to let me know that this is a known issue between sonos and apple tv. Apparently, they are working on a fix. The temporary fix is to put apple tv in strero mode.

It would have been nice to find out about this known problem before I spent 2 days trying to fix it 🙃

I will keep an eye out for an update but only wait so long. I do use apple tv a lot.

@DannyUFCfan

Interesting. It’s been a long time so I”m not holding my breath.

I’m trying Wireless Audio Sync anyway and will report back any findings...

Me too lol

working, so far (early days) *touches wood again*

@Rhonny I don’t know how you got on with your testing. I’ve watched a couple of hours of Apple tv dolby atoms and  Wireless Audio Sync might have fixed the problem! Now, I’m far from convinced that its fixed, but so far, so good!

Let’s be honest, it’s unlikely that apple or sonos will fix this, so if anyone find this in the future. Try out this fix.

The announced real passthrough mode with TvOS 26 may show some effect here.
Lets wait it will really show up and what Apple understands by real passthrough ;-)

Good point. I forgot that was coming.

Today’s update is that, the problem has returned like a bad smell lol

Ok, time to put apple tv in stereo mode and be done with it until it’s fixed
