Hi,

I have an Arc Ultra connected via HDMI Earc.

Whenever I am watching Saturday Night Live, when the live act plays their two songs during the show, the vocals come through much louder than the musical sections of the song.  It’s like the Vocals are turned up and the Musical Instruments (especially the bass) are turned more than halfway down.  I also noticed this issue during the Live Halftime musical performance of the Super Bowl.  Any ideas?

Also, I noticed that Sonos much have fixed the problem where some of the ads volumes were much higher than the volume of the show.  This was super annoying.

What audio settings are you set to on the TV? eg have you set Digital Audio output to Passthrough (if using a cable box or Apple TV or Firestick etc); is HDMI-eARC mode set to Auto; is Dolby Atmos compatibility On (although maybe not relevant for SNL, but doesn’t hurt); is Input Signal Plus turned on under External Device Manager for the HDMI-eARC port (may not be relevant but best to have it on).
And if you are using a cable box or other external content device, what audio settings do you have there?

(Volume fluctuations were unlikely to have been fixed by Sonos - the Arc can only play the audio it is fed, in the format it receives it, and so is more likely to have been fixed by the content/ad providers).

Rhonny,

I am using a FIOS Box.

I set the digital audio output to Passthrough (I had it on Auto) fixed the problem.

I also went into the Android TV settings and turned on “Pass Volume Keys to HDMI.”

Not sure which of those two things fixed it, but now the music plays back normally over the Arc.

Thanks so much!

Not sure either - but Passthrough ensures that the FIOS box sound reaches the Arc via the TV without the TV carrying out any processing on it, which it’s possible it was doing.
