I have an amp in a kitchen/diner/lounge area, hardwired to 4 Sonos in ceiling speakers. This was meant purely for music. However…having now installed a TV and an Arc, I wanted to use 2 of these speakers as surround.

I added the amp as my surround speakers to the Arc and they work fine. Problem is of course is that when I play music it comes out of the arc and barely out of the in ceiling speakers.

Is there anyway to resolve this? Maybe have 2 amps, one that is connected to just 2 speakers and the other one to all 4. Or is there a configuration that I can use (I don’t think so…).

I don’t want to add any more speakers.

Thanks.

Without going the route of two Amps, which wouldn’t work, as you can’t connect two Amps to the same speaker and expect them to work, you could go into the surround settings for the room that contains the Arc, and set up the surround speakers as ‘Full’, rather than ‘Ambient’, for music playback, which might resolve your concerns.

Two Amps, one connected to the TV Room and the second as a second Room, then Grouping them would work. Expensive if you could live with all four playig the TV surround channels.

You could add a speaker selector to the Amp’s output to let you pick either pair of speakers when watching TV or both for music.

Explore the Full Mode above before getting fancy.

Thanks @Stanley_4  and @Airgetlam.

I went with the original idea - and went for ‘Full’ which seems to work fine for the music side.

Many thanks!!!!
