App does not link properly to TV sources with multiple sound bars and speakers

Called support few times and they all claimed that Sonos app does not support linking sounds bars with TVs but worked perfectly with music apps.

Also app is not friendly at all, it should be when I link few devices to match it with a source right away. Too many maneuvering around to get it working. If u connected as a source to TV with multiple devices, u need to wait for 15min and pray that might work.

Too frustrating, I am going to return my all sounds bars and keep Move 2 speaker. That is a great invention device.

To fix the app, it takes few programming lines. SONOS EXECUTIVES should invest in the app.  What is the use of having great devices if your app sucks.

Hi @Ohala

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

I am sorry to hear of the problems you’ve had with your Sonos system, though I confess I don’t understand your first statement:

Called support few times and they all claimed that Sonos app does not support linking sounds bars with TVs but worked perfectly with music apps.

Linking your Sonos soundbar to a TV is part of the setup process of a new soundbar in the Sonos app - it definitely happens.

I am not sure what you mean by “worked perfectly with music apps” - how would a music app (not Sonos’ app) configure a soundbar to communicate with a TV? They cannot.

Also app is not friendly at all, it should be when I link few devices to match it with a source right away. Too many maneuvering around to get it working. If u connected as a source to TV with multiple devices, u need to wait for 15min and pray that might work.

If you are talking here about grouping speakers together for playing TV audio, this feature works. If you have problems with doing so, I’d first recommend a reboot of your router (switch it off for at least 30 seconds), but a call to our technical support team will reveal what the speakers are saying about what is happening (or not happening).

Have you tried adjusting the Group Audio Delay for each soundbar? As a soundbar is trying to stay in sync with a TV picture, it does not buffer the audio in the same way as a speaker does for audio-only streams. As a result, grouping for TV audio depends heavily on the network environment, and yours may not be up to the task, though things may be able to be improved.

Adjusting the setting will improve grouping performance while playing TV audio, but it will increase the delay between the soundbar playing audio and the other, grouped-in speakers playing the same audio - as long as you cannot hear both at the same time, it should be acceptable. Go to Settings Icon » [room with soundbar] » Group Audio Delay » Medium/High/Max.

Too frustrating, I am going to return my all sounds bars and keep Move 2 speaker. That is a great invention device.

I am sorry to hear that you feel the need to return your soundbars, but this is your right.

I am glad to hear that you like your Move speaker, however.

Your message was edited here as it contained unfriendly content.

Why are you so sure that the software is at fault? My Sonos system operates without fault, and it uses the same software as yours’ does. I highly recommend you try the setting mentioned above, and a reboot of your router. If you’ve already tried this advice, apologies, but you did not mention it.

I hope this helps.

Please restate your problem, your post is far from clear.

You can certainly group multiple soundbars, for TV audio and music. I have two Playbars and a Beam which I do this with regularly.
