I recently purchased a Sonos Arc (to replace my Sonos Soundbar) combined with 2 x Play Ones and Sub. Sound is great but lip sync is not perfect.

However, I have noticed that my Sony TV (KDx9000e, 2017 model) does a full reboot when I turn it on. Seems like the Sonos Arc is sending a signal via the HDMI ARC port requiring the TV to perform a full shutdown rather than go into sleep mode. Painful as then takes about a minute to boot up the TV!

Before I do a full reset on both TV and Arc, anyone have a good solution as I see this is not an uncommon issue but unclear what the remediation is.

Thanks

Strange🤔 Have you checked for any firmware updates for the TV?

Same here on my Sony XF9005. I have done factory resets on my Sony TV. Updated the Firmware to PKG6.6575.0259EUA using USB memory stick as the TV did not show any available updates. And still my TV would reboot each time. After disconnecting each input & then one by one reconnecting, I found the Sonos ARC to be the offending item!

Any thoughts on how to fix this would be gratefully accepted.

This seems to have fixed it for me:

  • Turning on IP Simple Control

    1. Open Settings

    2. Go to Network and Internet

    3. Go to Home network

    4. Go to IP control

    5. Go to Simple IP control

    6. Toggle On

I will still see how it goes after a few days though

Just the Lip Sync to sort out now!  Fixed the SkyQ Lip Sync by setting Normal instead of Dolby Digital Plus in Audio Settings. This obviously downgrades the sound quality, but is a work around until I get the HDFury Arcana, which will fix everything (in theory)

It did for me but watch out for Firmware updates, they are frequent at the moment.

Is that Sony Firmware updates or Arcana Firmware updates?

Arcana - I think there has been 7 since the launch of the product.

Great, thanks. Looking forward to getting the Arcana when they have more stock - 25th November ish.

Did a full factory reset on both but still the same issue. All systems have latest updates and so need to investigate further!

@Flyboy340 gave you the solution. The problem stems from a bug in Sony’s firmware, which has been around for several years now.

Lip sync is achieved by turning off and on the AV sync setting in the sound settings.
