Hi all, I just purchased a Sony Bravia xr-65x90ck and I’m unable to get it working with my Playbase. I’m using an audio optical cable to connect the two, and the cable light is red, so the connection isn’t the issue. I’ve seen older threads from users with similar issues, but nothing newer that references the most current televisions. Does anyone know the correct settings for the television/playbase?

Also, we use any Apple TV for all streaming etc. We also have a Nintendo Switch on a separate HDMI port. No sound on the Playbase from either one.

Have you removed the plastic caps on either end of the optical cable? Have you set the Speakers setting to “Audio System” on the TV?

From the online user-manual (see below) - select the ‘audio system’ and select the ‘digital optical output’ and choose ‘Dolby Digital’…

Yes and yes. The Playbase was connected to an older LG television prior to this and it worked fine. Based on other threads, I’m fairly confident this is an issue with the television settings, but I haven’t found a combo that works yet.

Unfortunately, these settings didn’t work.

Have you tried the TV sound-out set to PCM Stereo over the Optical port, instead of Dolby Digital, - does that perhaps work for you?

Yes, and no luck.

Be sure TV Autoplay is enabled under the Playbase’s settings in the Sonos app.

These are my current settings:

With the Playbase (room) in focus in the Sonos App (ie. showing on ‘Now Playing’ screen), goto the Browse/Music Services Tab and scroll past your music services and select the TV icon and ensure the volume slider control is set to say 25-30% volume and is not muted. See if that gives you TV audio.

First, be sure TV Autoplay is enabled under the Playbase’s settings in the Sonos app. Then under the TV settings, enable Audio System Prioritization and set Dolby Digital Plus Output to Dolby Digital.
