Sonos One not showing up in Apple TV audio output

Hi,

I’ve been using 2 Sonos One and 1 play:5 on my Apple TV with no issues for a year. After last Sunday’s Sonos update suddenly they stopped showing up on Apple TV → Settings → Video and Audio → Default Audio Output.

I’ve tried restarting all devices, making sure AirPlay is on on my Apple TV. None worked.

I tried AirPlay from my iPhone to those Sonos speakers and it worked. Just not showing up on Apple TV.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!

I face the same issue here in Singapore. Cannot find my Sonos Play 5 listed in the Settings → Video & Audio → Audio Output of my Apple TV 4K since the last update. However, a workaround worked for me.

Long press the TV button on your Apple TV remote. A sliding window should appear and there you would see an Airplay selection menu. I could find my Sonos Play 5 under that and it works perfectly.

Hi @mdzhu1994.

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the community!

I appreciate your detailed post outlining the issue as well as the step(s) that you did, let me help and try to figure this out.

We need to ensure that your Sonos system is up to date, if not, proceed to update the system and verify the Airplay list once the update is completed.

Kindly reproduce the issue, then submit a diagnostic report through the Sonos app, and reply with the confirmation number. I'd start by reviewing your system as well as the status of the devices, it will help in identifying what's possibly causing the issue.

Same issue here - setting up new Sonos One SL with AppleTV. The workaround with TV button works, but can’t see the option in Default Audio. Update was installed on both devices, so all of them are up to date.

Hi @Eaz65.

Thanks for reaching out, let me check it for you.

Is this only happening when playing a video game?

Kindly verify the connection of your Sonos product(s)? (on what device it is connected and what type of connection is in use)

To better understand your setup and to check some data from your system, please submit a diagnostic report through the Sonos app while the issue occurs and reply with the confirmation number. I'd start by reviewing your system and see if there’s anything causing this issue.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Same issue here. The home button workaround works but is a pain as it needs to be done each time...

I have the same issue with a pair of Symfonisk speakers. The speakers don’t show up in the Audio settings. I’ve been using the Long Press menu solution for months. VERY ANNOYING! As of 2-3 weeks ago this solution no longer works. On the Long Press menu I can still select the speakers using the Air Play option but there is no longer any sound from the Symfonisk speakers when I’m watching a program on the Apple TV. However in the Long Press window if I select to play Apple Music it will play through both the TV and Symfonisk speakers. There just doesn’t seem to be an option to select other apps / movies / shows for the audio to Air Play.

I ran a diagnostic report. The confirmation number is 486897461.

Could you please compare notes with Apple and restore functionality?

Yes, it only when playing games apparently. For other platform the home screen trick works but not for this.

My sonos one stopped showing up on my Apple iPhone and other devices. I have restarted my network and sonos devices. I have checked my phone and sonos app settings and all are correct.Diagnostic confirmation is 677117319.

I cannot select any of my Sonos Box (2x One, 1x Beam) in the AppleTV default device settings after the latest AppleTV Update - before that everything worked fine. The long remote trick only works for the Sonos One but not my Sonos Beam - which often break connection anyway even after several WLAN channel switches. I can select Sonos Beam but after 1 min AppleTV tells me that connection could not  be established.

My diagnostic confirmation is 37218340

Thanks
