Sonos Arc Ultra 5Ghz Wifi

The Arc, like every Sonos HT device, use their 2.4GHz connection for WiFi.

Their 5GHz radio is exclusively used for bonded speakers ie surrounds and sub.

So please, quit trying to force which frequency your devices are using, let the devices figure it out with your router.

A decent router will let you use the same SSID for multiple frequencies, so you can roam around your house and always get the best results.

The Arc Ultra, which the OP has, can connect to 5GHz Wi-Fi.

The Gen 1 Sub should connect to the dedicated 5Ghz link form the Ultra.

Thanks yeah I was pretty sure the arc ultra could utilise the 5ghz band. So... Any ideas as to why I can't seem to get it to connect to it? Should I remove the gen 1 sub first? Using an Asus ax5400. Cheers

The Sub should have no bearing on the Arc Ultra connecting to Wi-Fi.

Are any of your other Sonos speakers connected to the router’s 5GHz?

No I've just got the arc ultra and gen1 sub. I've also tried bypassing the mesh network by putting the arc ultra right next to the main router. No dice

Okay, are you 100% sure the 5GHz password you are entering is correct?

Are you able to manually enter the 5GHz Network into the Sonos app under Settings > Network > Update Networks (although unsure if this is yet possible with Arc Ultra)

Yes when I run the connection process it asks if I want to connect to the 5ghz network (which my phone is connected to). Password is definitely correct then it just errors out and have power cycle the arc ultra. 

 Soundbars need to be connected to 2.4GhZ.  The soundbar uses a 5GhZ band to bond to the Sub & surrounds.

 Does your network broadcast both a 2.4GhZ SSID and a 5GhZ SSID?

I thought the arc ultra was able connect to the 5ghz band? Yes network broadcasts both and all. My other devices all utilise the 5ghz (except sub gen 1).

 Do both broadcasted bands have the same SSID name & password?  My network does band steering so I am unable to split the bands, but my old network did broadcast both 2.4 & 5.  I gave them the same name and same password so they showed something like this:

   Mynetwork 2.4

   Mynetwork 5

 When I had these two bands I don’t recall any connection issues when my phone was on 5 and my renderer or switch or other device was on 2.4.  
 

 At this point with my present network doing band steering some of my devices are on 2.4 and some are on 5.  They all show on the mobile controllers with no issues.  Right now my Move stereo pair is connected to 5, my Port is connected to 2.4 & my Arc is connected to 2.4.  They all show on the app.

 I don’t know if this will work the same way on your network.

I was having weird issues with updating my network in advance of setting up the Ultra so I went into troubleshooting mode and ended up disabling WPA3. That allowed all of my devices to connect immediately, even though it should be supported no problem. I also noticed that the app is more responsive as well.
