Hello All,

My system consists of a Sony 65’ A95L, A Sonos ARC 1st Gen, 2x Era 300s, and a Sub Gen 3.

The ARC is mounted with my TV on a Sanus Extendable Wall Mount for Arc.

Latley iv been looking at upgrading to the Arc Ultra, I already know that yes this mount will work for the Arc Ultra but this is not why I’m here today.

So I found this video on YouTube:

In the video he talks about how the Sonos Wall mounts Have magnets in them to tell the Sonos ARC that it is mounted.

Then I stummbled on this old Sonos Community thread from a while back

without a real answer if this Sanus ARC Mount had the magnets that told the soundbar it was mounted or not.

A user by the name Mark P said “I'll submit a feature request to our development team. We don't have a timeline we can share for this feature, but we'll be sure to make an announcement if we have any updates”

However Iv searched every where inside the Sonos APP, there is not anywhere or any settting where you can tell the soundbar yourself that it is mounted.

Sonos sells this very mount on their website the “https://www.sonos.com/en-us/shop/sanus-tv-mount-arc

So I would say that if it does not have magnets why is Sonos promoting and allowing users to purchase the mount? Secondly,  that thread where Mark P said he would submit the request to the dev team is from 3 YEARS AGO! Not one year, or two. BUT 3 YEARS AGO! I’m pretty sure by now there should be a way inside the Sonos App to tell it that its mounted so the thing does not shake off the TV.

I am worried to upgrade to the Arc Ultra and as its a larger unit with more drivers I neeed a clear answer from Sonos about this.

Hey @WooDe, welcome back!

Thank you for your post and worry not, I have the answer for you:

The Arc Ultra does not require to detect the magnetic connection, it’s build better than the Arc in this regard and wont need to tune down the bass to protect the wall or whatever it is mounted to.

With regards to the feature request - not every request makes it into production whether this be speaker, component or app. We have our system to report these suggestions, but in the end not the decision power, as much as I like some of the request I have come across on the community.
