Here is my diagnostic report 3311509. I've disconnected the speakers from the surround sound due to the issue but if you can send the update to me I'll reconnect them.
Hi,

Just flagged you for that update. Go ahead and check for software updates under Manage and update your system. Please let us know if you're still having trouble.

Cheers.

I have this problem. No TV sound in surround speakers. Boosting surround didn't work.

My confirmation number is: 6287609.

Please send patch if applicable.

Hi, there isn't any patch currently as currently any known issues with the surrounds have been long resolved. In your case, from your diagnostic the CONNECT:AMP that you have running the surround speakers isn't wired to the network. CONNECT:AMPs need to be wired in in order to function as surround speakers for your PLAYBAR. It either needs to be wired to the PLAYBAR directly, or wired into the same router or switch that your PLAYBAR is.

This has always been the issue with surround sound speaker systems, "I can't hear the rear speakers!!" the customer always says. The Sonos playbar is direct audio so whatever the TV program you are watching is recorded or broadcasted in(usually stereo 2-channel sound) that's what you will hear. If you play the latest action movie on Bluray, you will hear all speakers as it is recorded in 5.1 surround sound or similar, So when a helicopter flies over the camera in the movie, you'll hear it in the rear speakers flying away for example. Sonos really should have given us options to add "virtual Surround" like Dolby, Pro-Logic etc like you can on most receivers/amplifiers. Hopefully they can offer that through the software in the future, but I'm assuming it will need to be a new playbar model.

Hi Rintintin, the PLAYBAR will automatically do this already. In fact, even if you just have the PLAYBAR, it'll never throw away any audio and will bounce audio against the walls to create the best 5.1 simulation it can.

The diagnostics looks fine, try adjusting the volume of the surround speakers. Since we are receiving 5.1 DD on the PLAYBAR, the surrounds will only produce effect sounds when receiving such a signal.

Assuming your Play 3s are correctly bonded - Under room setting Room Name(+LS+RS) will be visible for the room with the Playbar, then the chances are the audio signal you are sending to the Playbar via the optical cable is only stereo in which case there will often be very little coming out of the Play 3 surrounds.

Check in your controller when the TV is on and you are watching something under "About my Sonos System" and scroll the Playbar - It lists the audio format being received.

I reviewed your diagnostic. However, at that time the PLAYBAR wasn't streaming TV sound, could you submit a new diagnostic while playing the TV, thanks.
