I’m using two Era 300s as surround speakers for my Arc Ultra, but I’d like to listen to music directly on the Era 300s in simple stereo mode.
The only way I’ve found is to remove them from the Arc setup, then pair them together — and then do the reverse operation for home theater mode, which means recalibrating everything again.

That’s correct. And why most people (in my perception) choose instead to set the surround settings to ‘Full’, rather than ‘Ambient’, which forces the surrounds into a stereo set of speakers for music playback, and adjust the volume of the front speaker bar. Not perfect, but a single setting which really helps a lot.
