I was getting Dolby digital plus 5.1 (as it was showing in the Sonos app) while watching Netflix and prime video contents when I put the digital audio out settings on my Hisense TV to RAW. Since today morning it’s showing just Dolby Digital 5.1 rather than Dolby digital plus. But I couldn’t feel any difference in the audio quality. But how to make sure if I am getting actually Dolby digital plus 5.1. By the way the product I own is beam gen2.

The audio quality difference between streaming Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital is hardly noticeable by most people.

Try logging in to your Netflix account on a web browser and under your Account, go into the Playback Settings under your Profile and make sure the streaming quality is set to HIGH.

Do you only have a Beam, or do you have some rear effects speakers too? If you’ve only got the three front channels I wouldn’t expect to hear much/any difference.

Once I change my TV Digital Audio Out from “Raw” to “ Dolby Digital” , the difference is very much noticeable. “Raw” is more loud and clear and only in this setting, Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 is appearing in the Sonos S2 app while watching Netflix contents. The issue is solved as I got rid of the standby mode on my TV. I am turn it off full now and once I switch On its all fine.
