A sound bar should be placed as close to ear level as possible. Also the Arc has two upward firing drivers that reflect audio off of the ceiling when listening to Dolby Atmos content (not that you are seated close enough to hear it). The ideal distance between the Arc and your seating position to hear the height channels the best (with a standard 8-foot ceiling) is 5-8 feet.
