BEAM no audio with Samsung Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC connect, but no ARC)

I have an older Samsung (2013?) -- MODEL LN55C630. It has 4 HDMI ports (one labeled DVI), but none labeled ARC. I can connect via the optical and the sound is great, but I have no other controls (on/off, volume, etc.) and I get that annoying "Not Available" message at every volume adjust. HOWEVER -- The Anynet+ CEC recognizes the Beam, controls the volume, I don't get the "NA" message and seems fine -- BUT NO AUDIO.

Seems like I'm almost there with the Anynet+CEC, does everything, but sound. Is my only choice to buy a new TV with ARC? I don't see an option when connecting through the app. Any ideas? Really appreciate any help. Please and thanks!

CEC is a control api, you need ARC to actually get the audio into the Beam. You'll have to stick with optical, or buy a new TV.

Have you switched to “Receiver” under the anynet+ Speaker menu?
