I have just purchased Panasonic DP-UB9000 Region Free Blu-ray Player . When I try to play a 4k movie I get zero sound. The streaming apps all have sound. DVDs also have sound. 4ks zip.

I have the same Panasonic player (although mine is not region free). It will send DTS to the Arc Ultra. There is a setting in the setup menu of the player to allow DTS. I’m not home at the moment so I can’t direct you. However, I’m willing to send instructions after 6Pm US- CST. In the meantime you can search for yourself in the setup and let us know if you are successful.
FYI, there’s no such thing as 4K sound. 😊
4K refers to the video resolution. Sound is ether Dolby Atmos, DD5.1 or higher, DTS and variants of the same, PCM or Stereo.
What is the audio format being sent to your TV? What Sonos device do you have connected to your TV and how is it connected?
The Sonos app just says it’s unsupported audio. The Sonos chat is telling me I need to purchase an audio converter. I believe the 4k movie is DTS and I was told Sonos cannot play DTS. Kind of crazy that I spent 3k on Sonos and 1k on the 4k player. I can play it in PCM audio which sounds horrible.

As an extra point, I’d be looking at the Blu-ray player to see if it will change the output stream, but which Sonos device is connected to your TV, how it is connected, (and frankly which TV it is connected to, many don’t handle DTS either) will make a difference.
Sorry about that. I have Arc Ultra,2 Era 300,2 Sub 4. Tv is a Vizio Qled pro 4k. Sonos is connected by ArC . Player is Panasonic DP-UB9000p1k 4k. Player does have a hdmi audio out as well as the video and video/audio hdmi and optical pcm out. I change the output on the player to pcm which is only stereo not surround.
Which Vizio (need a model number, please)?
Your audio and video should be connected from your Panasonic to your Vizio TV via the HDMI cable, not anything else. The Arc Ultra should be connected to the TV’s eARC port via HDMI.
What audio settings do you have on the TV set?
Have you called Sonos Support to discuss it?
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
+18Sonos does do simple DTS, but not the spatial stuff. Some TV’s (my Samsung for example, but most LG’s too depending on model year) do not pass through DTS though, so your Vizio could also be the problem. Can the Panasonic recode DTS to Dolby Digital, which all TV’s pas through?

It seems it does not decode to DD, but to PCM. You could try if your TV passes through PCM and if you like that.
PCM should be DTS decoded to multi-channel PCM, which would be exactly the same as the DTS content. However, that player seems to have a problem with the PCM output and it is reported to only give stereo. As said previously, you need a player that decodes to Multi-Channel PCM, or transcodes to Dolby True HD.

One of my previous TVs (a Vizio of an older vintage) had the capability of generating Dolby Digital from the internal apps, but it was not capable of passing through Dolby Digital on the HDMI inputs. Since replacing that TV, I’ve always been suspect of chipsets in various devices. Most times they’re great, but I never take an assumption.
I am working late as well. Yes that would be awesome. I appreciate the help. I was hoping someone would have the same player.

Seems iffy, if it handles 4K video, but until we get a Vizio model number, it is still a possibility…audio chipsets are not the same as video chipsets, and their output is often two different locations. ;)
Set the Panasonic bluray audio setting to send DTS as PCM and you will get Mutli-channel PCM. For DTS-X you should get 7.1 PCM but not height channels. Sounds like you’re TV might be the issue.
