Sonos Ace minimum volume

Good morning. Sonos Ace, minimum volume is too high. Is there a way to lower it more? Thanks

Hi @SerCaf, welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear that the Sonos Ace’s volume is too loud. There isn’t any way to make the Ace quieter than the minimum volume, so if you’re one touch up from the headphones being muted, that’s the lowest they’ll go.

I have seen another user mention that updating helped them, I’d suggest trying that. Our support article for Updating the Sonos Ace has the steps to do so.

I hope this information helps!

Please add a firmware update that addresses this issue. It should not be this loud at its lowest setting.

I have the same issue. It’s too loud. It’s a lot louder than my Bose headphone. I am not sure if they can fix this issue by updating the app. I am thinking if I should return it……

Please fix this Sonos. The Ace is distractingly loud at the minimum volume setting with Bluetooth on Android. My Sony MX series had a much better range.

Hey, I have noticed the same issue, however when using apple music on mac you are able to lower the sound in the apple music as well, as system wide and the issue is solved when doing this allowing them to go very quite before not hearing anything. This shows that its not a hardware limitation but rather a software limitation (problem). I hope sonos fixes this quickly in a software update as on Iphone you are not able to lower the volume in the music app.

On Phone there seems to be something wrong in the calibration of the first 3 volume increases as there is no variation between the volumes level around 1-3 db per sound level increase/decrease which is much less then the normal 8-10db

Hello,

I was able to fix this issue by doing the following on Android:

Enable Developer Options in System Settings

Disable Absolute Volume. This prevents syncing the system volume with the device Bluetooth volume.

Set the system media volume to about 50%.

Adjust volume on the Sonos Ace to comfortable listening level.

Minimum volume on iPhone or iPad is way too loud.

Wearing Sonos Ace while studying and just want to hear some music in the background, but I always get distracted because it is too loud.

there is no option on iOS to turn system volume down.

Please fix it Sonos. Any other Headphone can play music way more quieter.

Look how many complaints there are about this issue…

I am able to resolve this issue in Android by doing the following:

-Enable Developer Options in System Settings

-Disable Absolute Volume. This prevents syncing the system volume with the device Bluetooth volume.

-Set the system media volume to about 50%.

-Adjust volume on the Sonos Ace to comfortable listening level.

Although this method does allow you to achieve a much wider range of volume control on the Ace, it is not really a solution. Firstly, I don’t know if you can achieve this on iOS. Secondly, every other headset I have used such as Pixel Buds Pro, Sony MX series, Microsoft Surface, etc is able to achieve full range of volume control without having to access hidden settings. There seems to be something different with how Sonos is utilizing volume control because it seems to be obeying the output level of the built in phone speakers rather than its own volume range.

Fix this simple issue. We paid $400 for these headphones and can’t listen to music at a low comfortable listening level. This is ridiculous at this point. I have never had such an issue with headphones before.
