headpones can’t connect with Soundbar

Every time I go to use TV swap with my Sonos Ace headphones I have to do reboot my Sonos soundbar to get it to work.
A couple days later I will go to watch a film and can’t connect again.
There is an 8 step tutorial that I found on here that I know from heart that goes something like this

  1. Unplug soundbar
  2. Turn of Ace
  3. Turn off Bluetooth
  4. Close Sonos app
  5. Plug soundbar back in
  6. After sounbar has booted, open app
  7. Turn Bluetooth back on
  8. Turn on Ace

It works every time but a couple of days later you’re doing the whole thing again, I never power off any of my soundbars and they can’t all be broken (I have 4 around the house)

It just makes me think my whole system was a waste of money.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem or has anyone heard of a more reliable system on the market where you can also connect headphones with Dolby Atmos please let me know

Thanks

Try the latest updates (it may take a week to get them) and if it still happens submit a diagnostic and call Sonos support.

There is a new software release featuring enhancements for Ace. Have you installed that yet?

That's a shame. I was thinking of buying an Ace just for its TV swap feature but if it's that buggy then I won't bother

A few folks reporting problems while the majority are happy seems like an odd thing to make a purchase decision on, do you apply that to everything you buy?

My Ace, early on had some glitches and issues, I reported them to Support (not just posting here) and Sonos seems to have gotten things sorted, or at least the ones that were a problem for me. Of course if they were really bad I'd have sent them back during the free return window.

You're definitely not the only one experiencing these issues and you're absolutely doing the right thing by looking for a more consistent solution. Here's what’s going on, and what you can try:

What’s Going on with Sonos Ace + Soundbar Pairing?

The Sonos Ace headphones work with TV Audio Swap to route sound from a compatible soundbar (Arc, Arc SL, Beam Gen 2) via your iPhone or iPad. But many users report that the connection sometimes drops and requires a reboot of the soundbar to restore functionality

Tried and True Fixes That Sometimes Work:

Make sure your Soundbar and Ace are both on the latest firmware recent Sonos updates aimed to improve connection reliability .

Power cycling your soundbar temporarily resets the connection and often restores the TV Audio Swap function

No Negative Vibe Just Things You Should Know:

Workflow may feel fragile until stability updates roll out consistently.

For better reliability: Check firmware updates frequently in the Sonos app (they roll out automatically when they can)

Summary:

Right now, there isn't a perfect workaround beyond rebooting the soundbar when TV Audio Swap fails. But updates from Sonos are actively improving the experience some users report much better stability recently. If you need something that's rock-solid every day, it's worth exploring latest firmware or even contacting Sonos support for diagnostics.
