Hey everyone
I recently upgraded my mini to Gemini and Sonos has been playing completely different song when I play it through google mini
My set up is Sonos 1 + google mini + Gemini.
I will ask mini " Hey google play A song" and Google mini will respond with " Playing A song on this sonos" but what is playing on sonos is completely different song that i asked.
I have tried rebooting mini and sonos . I have removed and readdded YT music and nothing works . It happens  on ALL my sonos controlled by google mini. This ONLY happens after i upgraded to Gemini

is anyone having the same issue or find any solution ?

Thanks

Hello @hanwin, welcome back!

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues controlling your Sonos with your Google Mini after switching from Google Assistant to Google Gemini.

Is Google Assistant added to your Sonos One, and if so, what happens if you issue the command “Play A song” directly to the Sonos speaker instead of the Google Mini?

You can also Submit Diagnostics within 10 minutes of reproducing this issue and contact our Support Team for live troubleshooting

They have tools at their disposal to provide you with information and advice specific to your Sonos and what it reports.

I’m also sharing below a very informative Community thread in regard to the transition from Google Assistant to Google Gemini and how it affected Sonos:

I hope this helps.

Hey @hanwin, thanks for the quick reply!

I have the old Sonos Play 1 without mic. that's why I was controlling it through google.mini.

I have Move 1 with mic and i can play song through it without any issue . its only sonos i control through google mini

In that case have a look at our Support Article Google Assistant commands not working on Sonos and more specifically the below:

If you do not have voice-enabled Sonos speakers

  1. Open the Google Home app for iOS or Android.
  2. From the Devices tab, select one of your listed Sonos products, then select the Settings icon at the top-right.
  3. On the Settings screen, select Unlink Sonos. This will open the Add Devices menu where you can select Sonos, then Unlink account.
  4. After Sonos has been unlinked, set up the Google Assistant again using the Sonos app.
  5. Make sure that any music services that you’ve added in the Google Assistant have also been added to Sonos.
  6. Once completed, try giving Sonos a command using your Google Assistant device.

Let us know if this helped.

Hey @hanwin,

Sorry to hear that the troubleshooting step I shared didn’t work for you.

I would recommend reaching out to our Support Team for live troubleshooting as suggested in my first reply.

You can also mention this thread in the call, so that you don’t repeat any steps previously done to resolve it.
