Voice Match in GA

Userlevel 3
Hi all,

If I am not mistaken, Voice Match doesn't seem to work on the Sonos One. Is Sonos thinking of implementing it?

Thanks

This is really a dissapointment. Family of 4 here. I really want my personal agenda when I ask for it, not that of other family members …

Hope for support of this soon.

Man. I’ve paid over €800 for a system with an incomplete voice assistent? That’s a bummer. Please. Please enable this feature.

I would also like to add my voice! I use my sonos with my bf, sister, mom and stepdad and I would like for them not to have acces to my calendar etc!

Same here, family of 4. Big dissapointment not to be able to use voice match in GA.. Fix this please!

+1 for voice match. We have Control4 in our houses and use GA. Got my kids speakers to thier rooms for X-mas. Play ones. Theo where so hyped for GA, my kids hate Sonos now.

+1 for voice match.

I LOVE my Sonos Move but this extra feature would make it even more awesome.

+2!

Voice recognition is a must have feature for such an expensive system that is supposed to support a household! Please fix this ASAP!

Same here.

We need voice match to access our personal calendar and Spotify playlists…

Please, add this feature asap.

Definitely adding support for voicematch please. GA loses a lot of its functionality in a multi-person home when voicematch doesn’t work. We’ve basically gone back to a google home which kind of defeats the point of having GA on Sonos.

Cheers,

I don't think they will ever be able to implement it due to the terrible quality of the mic. It's a Sonos thing you paid 500$ for a play 5 and you want to listen to stuff from you tube we will pass it along..... This was said what 5 years ago when the Gen 1 came out. Don't hold your breath they won't tell you anything and NOTHING gets solved here. Your concerns go directly into a trash can and no one reads them. Any good engineer and developer in a company will tell you transparencies is important and these guys hide behind the curtains all day and get no patches out. I work in IT and do a lot of low voltage work as well. I used to say Sonos is the way Sonos will fix it eventually and I honestly stopped recommending it to most people. I bought the move for bluetooth.... Decent speaker, GA control trash! No volume control for the assistants voice, can barely understand what you are saying, and no updates in sight.

On my Sonos One the GA voice goes louder and softer with the music volume.

JBL got Voice match in their GA. So I don’t see why Sonos shouldn’t. As everybody writes, it’s a very important feature.

+1Would love to have this too!

+1 This is a feature that needs adding

+4 on this.

This is a much needed function.

We really need multiple accounts with voice match.

@Ryan S It has been 9 months now. Any updates or progress on this? Please ask the team about this function and how it is looking with a software update for this? Please let them know that this lacking function is really crippling this otherwise premium system. It is beaten by a $50 Google Nest Mini.

Thought that Sonos was a premium brand that was in the forefront in customer satisfaction.

I was going to upgrade my system with a couple of SL one, but not anymore.

If the system does not update with this crucial function I'll probably have to sell my Sonos system instead of adding to it.

Please, please update this. And do it soon.

Hi RobertM, I don’t have any news to share today, but I’ll make sure the team knows you’re still looking for it. As soon as there’s news, we’ll be sure to let everyone know.

After reading people’s comments, I think this is never going to happen… Unless a miracle overnight happens. This would be an excellent feature enabling my parents to use the assistant to get personalised results. As they mainly speak Hindi, which for some reason works on the Sonos one, but not voice matching... As it would enhance their user experience i.e. using YouTube, searching the internet for answers.

May have to go down the cheaper and more practical google mini route. Whether this is internal politics or google just not budging, we the customers are missing out... 😔

This issue also means I also can’t train my sonos speakers to recognise my voice to reduce errors. It’s extremely frustrating using the GA on Sonos. This really should be treated as a P1 bug and even P0 at this stage. I bought the move yesterday and found this now, but will switch to the bose home portable within the return period as confirmed this does support this.

Voice Match is finally rolled out. (Together with the possibility to adjust the mic sensitivity for the wake up word).

Maybe it was part of the Sonos S2 launch, I upgraded yesterday and I found it possible to enable Voice Match today. 👍

@godkatt you are right, thanks for posting! This is huge, can't believe it wasn't mentioned anywhere. Finally Voice Match works! Now fingers crossed for an independent volume setting for GA...

Great news, where did you find the config to enable it?  I've upgraded to 2 but can't find the setting that covers Voice Match

@Misplaced_one it's not within the Sonos app but the Google App. So go either into Google Home app or Google Assistant app/Settings/Assistant/Voice Match. Then it will do a search for devices on your network and all Sonos GA enabled speakers will show up. Confirm it and Bob's your mother's brother.

Thanks TinTin - Can’t wait to meet Uncle Bob!

Hmm this is not working for me despite it being enabled on the Sonos One devices and the “personal results” being enabled in Google Assistant. Oddly, VoiceMatch seems to be work fine on the Google Home Mini on the same network. Is there some trick to training VoiceMatch to specifically work on the Sonos One?
