Looks like Google Assistant now natively supports Apple Music. I just tried it, but it says it is not supported on the Move. Any time frame for it to be added?

Hi all,

Thanks for sharing your feedback. Apple Music is not currently available via the Google Assistant. We're always looking for ways to add new services and experiences - we'll post again as and when we have more to share.

All the best, and happy holidays,

Ditte

So Sonos is refusing to support it? Because literally EVERY OTHER third-party speaker with Google Assistant works with it now. Except Sonos.

Becoming increasingly frustrated with how Sonos works with these services, as well as limitations with AirPlay. You don’t make it easy for those in the Apple ecosystem.

Well this is disappointing. Would have thought this was at the top of the development teams priority list.

Hi Ditte and the Sonos team. Having a “mixed” Apple and Google tech home, having access to my Apple Music account from my Sonos speakers running Google Assistant would be a great addition.

Have a great holiday and new year

I am confused.

Sonos + Apple Music = Works

Sonos + Alexa + Apple Music = Works

Google Assistant + Apple Music = Works

Sonos + Google Assistant + Apple Music = Of course this WILL NOT work, how dare you assume it would!

This makes no sense at all and I would love to understand why this is not a supported option

Just adding to the chorus here that this is a must have now that Google’s devices all support it. Though I’m willing to give a little bit of time for Sonos to make their updates, this was just rolled out by Google on 12/7.

Google is absolute, pure evil. Somehow they managed to convince the world that they are “open”. They gimp everything that isn’t theirs by default.

I despise them with the power of a thousand suns. Their ecosystem is just as walled as Apples (if not worse)

Hello,

i m also an google / Apple Music / Sonos user… as many Others.

Please Sonos dev Team and marketing Team include this évolution on your top priority development roadmap.…

All the best to all of you !

Well as someone who has a full google setup around the house. I bought a HomePod Mini and two Sonos for airplay 2 syncing this month. I tried the Alexa functionality using Apple Music on the Sonos and hated it. I was so happy to see Apple Music come to Google assistant (and the fact that it seems to half work) that I ordered more Sonos on the assumption that full functionality was imminent. Seems crazy not to sort this out!

It’s a 100 day return period right! Might give it a few weeks to see if the situation changes?

same problem here in France.impatiently waiting for a sonos update. thanks

Just bought a Sonos Move set it up and set up google assistant with it and Apple Music as default on Google assistant and cannot access Apple Music via assistant getting same message as others “not supported“

how is this possible ? I can access Apple Music via the Sonos App on my phone and computer.

Agreed, this is a must...Sonos when will you support this please????

I have all the same problems as you guys except when I link Sonus to google home and just say “hey google play” Sonos plays what ever is on the Sonos app.

can’t get it to play what I want through the google home though so defeats the object really.

does Spotify work?

That’s correct the playing/stopping/pausing etc; of a pre-loaded playlist on a Sonos device has been available since the voice assistants were first available on Sonos… it’s the initiating/loading of a playlist into the queue that’s needed and Sonos are yet to do that with the Google Assistant & Apple Music.

Even though Google does not (currently) support Amazon Music (just as another example), you can still pre-load one of their playlists manually to a speaker queue ...and play/stop/pause etc; using the Google Assistant.

Google Home (Hubs & Speakers) now support Apple Music in the U.S.  My new Sonos One set with Google Assistant (not Amazon) says that it is not compatible with Apple Music requested via the Assistant.

It responds “OK, playing…..on Apple Music” and then “Sorry...Apple Music is not supported on Sonos...”

Hoping for a quick fix from Sonos - or its getting returned.

I’m having the exact same issue. EXACT. Also won’t show up when I try and add to HomeKit.

Same

Looks like most of us are trying to get a Google Home device (Nest Hub, etc.) to direct a Sonos speaker to play Apple Music. Has anyone had success getting a Sonos voice-enabled device (One, Beam, Arc) with Google Assistant enabled on that device to play Apple Music on that device itself?

Have not. I’m asking my One to do it and it will not. Yet I can use it as a speaker from Sonos App or Apple Music. It’s specifically the integration with Google Assistant and voice feature that won’t work.

If I could get HomeKit to find the speaker I could use Siri from my phone, but that also is buggy.

Seems like someone will work this out eventually with an update.

This is a Google Cast firmware version issue. I have a Lenovo Smart Clock that also has the same issue and it’s running 1.46 whereas my Nest displays are running 1.52. Sonos is probably still running 1.46. I’m not sure Google has even released 1.52 to 3rd parties yet. I imagine this isn’t a high priority for Sonos and will probably get pushed out with the next set of bug fixes. Granted they have access to the latest version of Cast.

Sonos products don’t support Chromecast.

Just want to add a +1 for this to become something we can use asap. I just bought a speaker for voice announcements via smartthings which works great and use Apple Music as my music service so would be great to be able to get google to play music through the sonos and not have to use the app or my phone. Seems simple enough and as Apple Music only came to google assistant in Dec would hope to see Sonos get things up and running this month (Jan) but we will see.

annoying that google assistant doesnt support apple music on sonos… seems like it should! but here’s a workaround that is working well for me (iphone, sonos one): ask siri to play the music you want to listen to and then airplay to bounce it over to the sonos - works pretty flawlessly!

I am confused.

You forgot…

SMH I don’t get this at all - Apple is super proactive on letting their developer and hardware community know about these releases. You should have had weeks to prepare for their Google integration which is testament of where the ecosystem is going.

#Sonos @Sonos @Ditte please fix. This is such a straight forward integration. Should take your dev team a week or two Build test ship this out. Take example of Tesla. A few tweets and boom new release.

Beginning to think I just bought into a premium Sonos system and innovation is very slow here.

Same issue here, would love if this was resolved ASAP.

Yeah this functionality needs to be added, I’m mystified as to why this isn’t a priority. Are you trying to get me to buy Google Nest speakers instead?

Still waiting. Wish they could at least give us a timeline or something

Ah damn it, I’ve literally just bought a Move to replace my Google home mini in the kitchen.

Naively assumed that as assistant now supports Apple Music then of course this will work with the move!
Why can’t all of these devices play nicely together!

Gutted I think I’m going to have to return this, unless there is an ETA in the next week or so.

Any other recommendations (not apple HomePod, I’m not a Siri fan) for a smart speaker, with decent sound that supports GA and Apple Music combo?
