Hi Community

I am using Beam which is connected vie ARC to my Sony Bravia VH21 (Google TV OS) and Google Home for my smart-home (both Sonos and the TV connected to Google Home).

In the Google Home app, I can see two devices for Beam:

  1. Sonos Beam - works well.
  2. Sonos Beam TV Control - it constantly appears as offline. In the past, it used to be in online status, which I could use to switch-on the TV (via ARC).

I have been trying to fix this and search for articles about the problem but can’t find anything. Can anyone share advise on how use Beam and ARC connection in order to switch on the TV?

Many thanks

It sounds like there may be a connection issue between your Sonos Beam and the TV through ARC, which is affecting its ability to stay online in Google Home. Here are a few steps that might help troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check HDMI-CEC Settings: Ensure that the HDMI-CEC is enabled on your Sony Bravia TV. This feature allows your TV to communicate with other devices (like your Beam) connected through HDMI. You can usually find this in the TV's settings under Bravia Sync or CEC options.

  2. Restart and Reconnect Devices: Sometimes simply restarting your TV, Sonos Beam, and the Google Home app can resolve connectivity issues. Also, try unplugging and re-plugging the HDMI ARC cable to ensure a secure connection.

  3. Remove and Re-add Devices in Google Home: Go to the Google Home app, remove both the Beam and Beam TV Control, and re-add them. This might help refresh the connection and allow the Beam TV Control to go back online.

  4. Update Firmware: Make sure both your TV and Sonos Beam have the latest firmware updates. Manufacturers often fix compatibility issues through updates.

  5. Factory Reset as Last Resort: If none of the above steps work, you can try performing a factory reset on your Sonos Beam, reconnecting everything from scratch. Just be cautious as this will erase all settings.

Hopefully, one of these steps helps you get the Beam TV Control back online!

Thanks Michael ; I did steps 1-4 several times .

Will try the factory rest of the Beam - maybe it will work… cheers

Check if your Internet connection is perfectly connected to all the devices and the Google Home app is updated , I faced that too with on Sony on Google Home and fixed it by updating the app . I hope that helps you too .

Try changing the inputs on your TV or Unplug and Plug it all back . Try using the voice assistant if that works .
