Set up my account and now when sending and receiving emails it shows Sonos as the name instead of my name. I need to fix this quickly, Help!

Log in to your account at Sonos.com and amend your Profile.

I thought I did, may I ask what am I amending?

What device are you sending emails from? You will have to change the default “mail” account on your device(s).

It also sounds like you setup a special email account for Sonos. There’s nothing wrong with doing so...just make sure it’s not your “default” mail account for correspondence.

On iPhone go to:

  • Settings
  • Scroll down and Select Mail (or type Mail in App Search)
  • If using App Search type Mail at top of next screen in Search field
  • Scroll down to Composing
  • Change Default Account

Sorry misread your initial post. I thought you were receiving Sonos emails as “Dear Sonos”

I use Android and don't see a like setting.

It even changed my name to Sonos on a external dist list.

For Android:

To set a default email app on Android, navigate to your device's settings, find the "Apps" or "Applications" section, and then locate the "Default apps" or "Default app settings". From there, you should be able to select "Email" and choose your preferred email application. This will ensure that when you tap on an email link, your chosen app will open instead of the system's default.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

  • Find Default Apps: Look for an option like "Default apps," "Default app settings," or "Choose default apps."
  • Select Email: Within the default app settings, find the "Email" or "Email app" option.
  • Choose Your Preferred App: Tap on the current default email app, and a list of installed email apps will appear. Select the app you want to use as the default.
  1. Access Settings: Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Locate Apps or Applications: Find and tap on "Apps," "Applications," or a similar option. The wording may vary slightly depending on your phone's manufacturer and Android version.

This process ensures that when you open an email link or try to send an email from another app, your chosen email app will be used automatically.

This video demonstrates how to set a default email account on a Samsung Galaxy S24:

Thanks all very much. I'll get to work.

Update: nothing has worked.  My name has been replaced by Sonos name sending emails from phone and pc.

What did Sonos Support say, when you called in?

I hate to say it but your issue just doesn’t compute. 🤔 Unfortunately due to Privacy concerns you can’t post a screen shot of your default email that shows on your devices. Take @Airgetlam advice/nudge and contact Sonos Tech Support.

So which part of changing the default email account on your android did the process fail?

Which email service are you using?

Update: nothing has worked.  My name has been replaced by Sonos name sending emails from phone and pc.

After make the change; assuming you got to the final phase and actually selected a new default email, trying restarting your device. Sometimes a restart is required for changes to take hold.

Did you by chance change your e-mail settings in Gmail or Outlook, not on Sonos?

1st, many thanks to all for your help

I'm afraid this is more user error than anything,  unfortunately my tech skillset doesn't know what I did. I can narrow it down after some tests using PC and ph.

PC: send and cc'd to me, email uses my name in Microsoft Outlook but on my phone my name becomes Sonos.

Ph: send shows my name to recipient but cc'd to me shows Sonos

Email sent to me all correct in Outlook but I become Sonos on ph.

So Outlook is correct but ph changes my name to Sonos in every scenario.

Should I go to a samsung store?

Should I go to a samsung store?

Yes, you will have more success with Samsung as I don’t really see the issue being something for Sonos to resolve.

Good luck!

If you can’t fix this yourself in the email settings on your phone, the Samsung store could be of help.
