Security / Account security

Are there any plans for increasing account security and adding mfa to authentication?

I have created a support case with Sonos and they promised to escalate it. Hope it helps a little bit at least to get the process started.

MFA does not have to be implemented in an inconvenient way. Anyone who uses Apple Pay or similar will find it very convenient.

Déjà vu ?

Has been raised as feature request 2 and a bit years ago, when play.sonos.com was launched.

In theory we are 2 and a bit years closer to a solution, than we were 2 and a bit years go 😀

What’s the point for increasing the security of the account if the Sonos app is not working correctly and the whole system is just s***!!!

Dunno, my system has been working properly for years. Perhaps instead of ranting, you were to post the situation you’re currently experiencing, this community could help you figure out what the issue is causing your system to not work properly.

Or, you could call Sonos Support to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Also, I suggest posting it in a thread of its own, or one that has a similar topic, instead of interupting some other poster’s thread with a flyby rant.

What Sonos should consider in all this are customers who just want to play their music and a streaming source. The folks like the ones that saw the CR-100 and original Play series and brought a set home.

They don't want complications, they dread updates that make them go back and relearn how to use their system or require complicated and frustration recovery just to get them working again. They don't understand why there should be features that introduce security issues.

Mom, who just turned 102, is able to use her S1 system with no issues and has for years. It works, no rolling updates, no delayed activation, her many years old tablet still runs the old app version it last loaded. Poke it and it plays.

The spouse on the other hand, got fed up, loaded a music player program on her computer, ordered some nice powered bookshelf speakers and banned all but the gen 1 Beam, only used for her TV, from her space. She misses the old Sonos.
