No wonder the company is tanking (4 basic fixes we need yesterday)

I continue to try to be patient, because, when they actually work, my speakers sound amazing. But good grief, Sonos! I feel like my kid could run this company better.

On going issues:

  1. Despite the email advertising lossless streaming directly to my speakers, when I actually try to stream to my speakers … no sound. My Apple Music ap says it is playing, but no. Nothing. The only way to listen is by using the crappy Sonos ap.
  2. On the crappy Sonos Ap, there are four basic flaws that simply mystify me:
    1. How hard it is to search. Besides the odd placement of the search bar on the landing page, after you do select a song, why the hell isn’t there a search icon on the new page! Why do you make us back out to the landing page to search?
    2. When we tap on the “three dot circle”, why the hell isn’t there options to go to the artist and the album RIGHT THERE. It is so damn hard to get to an album.
    3. Why oh why, in this day and age of technology, can’t we just tap on the image of the album and GO TO THE ALBUM?
    4. Why is there no Rhyme or Reason to how albums are listed? They seem neither alphabetical nor chronological. (And really, would I be so hard to give us the year the album was released right there in the listing?

No wonder the company is tanking. It’s like this ap was designed by people who don’t even listen to music!

In the attached screen recording done a few moments ago - I browse the Apple Music service to the place where I look at an Abba Album. I then decide to search for ‘Genesis’ and so I tap the ‘top’ centre SONOS logo and can then perform the search and furthermore I can select the various top tabs to confine the search results to just the one installed service only - I find this quite a quick method and IMHO is much better than the previous S2 App. See attached.

“The $500 Million Debacle at Sonos That Just Won’t End

Companies update their apps all the time. This one annoyed customers, cratered the stock and cost the CEO his job.”

*1 The floating search should be available everywhere.

IKR. How hard is it to do this? And why the hell hasn’t someone thought to do so yet.

As I said, it’s like they don’t even use their own product to listen to music. Bizarre.

There might be design reasons for this 🤷 but it seems more likely that it’s because the app is a pos and not finished.

There’s already a few threads on this from early last week - see here (just one example of several):

I picked the thread above as it contains the helpful info. to avoid online profiling and being tracked online etc.

Other than playlist editing, and return to my place in the queue when I go from full screen ‘now playing’ back to the track list, I’ve got what I want.

But unlike the original post, my speakers do not sound amazing. I installed the most recent January 2025 app update and did a system update… and my speakers now sound like merde. Muddy, boomy, muffled… horrendous.

I’ve not seen a suggested fix in the community posts. Have others experienced this; and if so, what’s the cure, assuming there is one?

Can’t say I’ve seen it reported here either @chambolle , but just as a general suggestion, if you have more than one Sonos speaker, you could consider a factory reset of one device only, to see if it might fix the issue. I’m assuming you’ve tried the usual things like TruePlay tuning and resetting the EQ settings, unpairing/re-pairing, powering off/on etc.
